They start like death/doom metal, now Gothic/Doom metal.
Early work resembles My Dying Bride ('Turn Loose the Swans' era) a little too close for comfort. Aside from the use of female vocals, their older work can be seen as pure MDB worship. After several albums however, they developed their own style, retaining the slow, dark, atmospheric and romantic death/doom aspects of their previous releases. Nice contrast between the female vocals and male grunts.

I've got all their albums. What can i say?
I learned about AYL from "Desperate Existence". I loved this album very much: the music, Dunja's kind of singing, the atmospheric sound, lyics... I still like this album and listen it from the begining up to end, though much time has passed since i heard it the first time. Then I bought "The Passage..." First time it seemed me as brilliant and "Desperate Existence".. but later it made me bored, so i forgot about it. I also did not like "Fire" - first of all, because Marina replaced Dunja... and the mucis changed too. And recently, i downloaded "The Inheritance..." Sad, but i listened it only one time - my ears couldn't sand it more It's boring and uninteresting for me too.

Due to the changes in band and "Fire", i'm not going to buy AYL's new album. Maybe i'll download it, but i don't feel optimistic about coming cd. I still like and listen "Desperate.." and that's enought for me.

You hear something from slavs elements in music in AYL?
I dont?
When I listen Arakain, Silant Screal Of Golden Elegy, Ador Dorath, thay are czechs I feels something from slavonism, diferent how russian, ukraian bands, but still there are something, but in AYL I can not hear it, maybe in begining, but I can imagine Croatia there, landsacpes, forests, Rijeka, amnd its insporate them but in lyrics arent nothing from slavs

And as for me, Croatia associates with golden beaches, sea, tourists, palm-trees.... no forests

When I listen doom metal, all exept traditional, I feel thay I am in that country where comes band katatonia-Sweden, my Dying Bride-UK, Winter-USA, Dis Pater-centrl Europe, so but Ashes You leve, I can not tell that thay comes from Croatia, I dunno why?

Well in Croatia re forest in northen sidfe of country, there are snow in winter and prity cold.

Golden beaches are in Dalmacia, and waleys are near Osijek

For me Croatia are football(hooligans-BBB/Torcida/Armada), Pelinkovac(alcohol), great summer, nice see, and girls

Yes its hard, what sedness can be there good weather always warmn, blu skyies, and lyrics are diferent how other doom metal bands, its more how gothic metal lyrics not doom

Sadness, disapiere still somethig shood inspirate them, for example me, when i was in Sweden my lyrics are diferent, in home diferent, even in granmother's home its diferent,

about AYL dunno I cant say nothing more when I be sobbber I read them for new.

In Moscow are posible by original Ashes You leave CD's I hawnt seen them in Riga, no nobody dont know them here,

Volgograd are far far from Moskov, and its not so close to big sities St.peterburg and Moskov and you cn by there so good CD, ist almoust near Asia far away, seems there are nice hot summers and wrm winter, BTW what tempreture there are in ewery season?

In Live 90km from Riga and her arev no metal music shoiops, I know only one in Riga where thay sold metal stufs, other are smller and poor.

It prooms more tht russian people love more metal how latvian, and I had many avidnce, because all my friends here speek rusisna and thy are metal hedas, but about age 30 and up

Ok, as for temperature, i just can say summers are very-very hot, and winters, as a rule, are mild, but there aren't any palms, as you can think
And as for nation and its love to metal, i think all nations are tolerant to metal, and i can't say that for example russians love metal more then latvian, because it's easier to buy cds even in distant cities. It depends on contry's economics and other things not related to metal.
Oh, and that word "sallo" - it is pig's fat, prepared in special way, and it is ukrainian national food, not russian!
Hmm... you like heavy-metal... But what did you like then in AYL?

Well I just planty times try to say moustly people know some bands from Scandinavia and dont know good bands from South, even if Scandinavian bands are over radted, good bands never be know in France, Italy, Croatia for example Distress.. from France and so.

Well I just like ASY and I like this band and Croatia, and well if singer are female and even if music are crappy like Lacuna Soil and Within Tamtation, then even I go to show I know where to lock but those worlds wasnt about AYL because thay are amazing.

Only 3 people debating... Let's bring back life to this topic. AYL, as you can hear, changed their syle. They sound now like Tristania or Sirenia (typical gothic metal with female voices and growling vocal), but with not that much opera-sounding female vocal. I like them. Tey have amaizng stage performance. Thye really give the best of them on stage. I anybody needs their album, I will do my best to find links or even put them on net. Untill then go to http://www.last.fm/group/Croatian+Metal and find more about them and other croatian metal! Enjoy!

I heard very little from this band, but I saw them alive twice and they are very good on stage. I can't say more because I don't have any album from these guys and girls but as soon as I get some staff I will write my whole opinion...

I have one of their albums...I don't listen to it frequently but I rather like it...their music slightly resembles our own Whispering Forest...I don't recall the title out of hand but I remember there was one song especially sinister and enjoyable....the female vocals are really haunting and the grunts in the background made it particularly...horrid...horrid in a pleasant way....

Just tryd those 2 news songs, damn thsoe are so great, Im lil comfised because old days I liked old death/doom days whit Marina Zrilič and also Dunja Radetič on vocals
But Tamara Mulaosmanovič voice is awesome to, realy now im comfussed because I dunno what I like more old or new AYL
This album looks prommising, realy maybe best album in genre ,ok hard tell best in doom, but bets in gothic for shore
