I thought I'd love this. Thinking most stuff Rhapsody did is great, including Luca's soli, all of which I thought of as great, I was rather excited to hear Luca Turillis' solo project. This time I was disappointed, a lot. The epic elements in this album own major ass, that much I must admit. The choirs in Demonheart (song) are simply brilliant. That's about as far as it goes with positive points though. Further this opener isn't extremely bad either, the chrous and refrain might even have made my buy this EP if I had listened just to that. But luckily I didn't buy it.
After the more or less good opener we get a mix between very melodic electronical music and very average power metal. The vocals sound a bit compareable to Fabio Lione in style, but defnitely less operatic and a lot lot worse. The drumming is boring as hell and the solos sound extremely uninspired. The guitar solos show some technicality but not nearly enough to make up for the lacking "emotion" or "soul" in them. The keyboard solos sound more like house music then metal. And the keyboard solo "Rondeau In C Minor" only shows us why classical music is supposed to be played on a piano, and not a keyboard.
Apart from those in the first song the choruses sound extremely flat and lifeless. Some random folkelements try to make this EP more epical, and it does sound epic, to some extent. But for me personally the epicness can't make up for the electronical sounding sound and production. The music doesn't sound even a tiny bit catchy to me and the thought of singing "We are the kings of the nordic twilight" along with the vocalist send shivers down my spine. Speaking of the vocalist, to me it sounds like 70% of how his voice sounds can be credited to studio effects.
From an objective point of view Demonheart is mainly power metal with both symphonic and electronic elements. Dedicated fans of symphonic music can give this a shot, who knows, maybe that'll be enough for you because the symphonic parts are quite good. From a subjective point of view this album really turns me down though.
Sorry Luca, but in my opinion you should have stayed with only Rhapsody.

Well, I think this EP is great. The edited versions of the epics are very good, as Black Realm's Majesty, one of the best Turilli songs, and the cover. BTW, Luca Turilli >> Rhapsody

This EP is just great, Black Realm's Majesty is my favorite song of Luca, well there are always different opinions (but not the best after all)

Turilli's solo stuff sounds extremely electronic, synthesized. Even more than Rhapsody, which is already very synthesized. Rhapsody's first five albums (until POTD incl) are average, from a Powermetal standpoint. And they're quite bad after POTD. TOA just plain sucks. Fabio Lione is a better singer than the one Turilli uses on his solo albums, Olaff Hayer. This guy sounds gay and boring. The drumming is boring as hell? Absolutely no surprise here. Drums have always been a weak point in Rhapsody. Most of the parts on which drums are relatively good are made on a drum machine. You can read "additional drums by Thunderforce" in their booklets. Well, Thunderforce is a drum machine. I'm not even a drummer and I could play most of the stuff on SOEL II and TOA, that's how bad drums suck on these albums. And yes, the keyboards don't have a classical sound, they sound more like some kind of electro-pop or whatever. This album is not good, imo. And "The Infinite Wonders Of Creation" and Dreamquest are even much worse than this.

There was a version of Demonheart i heard with Andre Matos doing vocals. the production was awful and his vocals were always drowned out by the choir.

I agree with several of the other posts. Luca's song "black realms majesty" is genius and is the highlight of the EP and a WONDERFUL addition to the tragic sci-fi/fantasy love story that the full-length "Prophet of the last eclipse" album narrated. I also really enjoyed the shorter version of "Prophet of the last Eclipse". I felt with this edited version, he captured the main musical themes of the original and cut out a lot of the unnecessary elements that made it drag out.
