Hail Finland! I often wonder what they feed their young in that country because it seems they grow up to be big and strong and then go join a metal band. The past few years [probably longer!] Finland has been a hotbed of excitement in the Metal world.
When I ordered Norther's debut Dreams of Endless War I had no idea what I was getting into. Fans of Kalmah and Children Of Bodom will seriously destroy themselves over this album. Just smash Kalmah and COB together and you get Norther. It takes a lot for me to go nuts over an album as I am pretty picky, but this one caught me off guard.
The first track 'Darkest Time' attacks your senses, then continues on with 'Last Breath', 'Released', 'Endless War', 'Dream', 'Victorious', 'Nothing Left', 'The Last Night', and... Ok before I say the last track let me set it up. At first listen I kind of laughed, but do you remember a little 80's band called Europe? Remember their most popular track... 'Final Countdown'? Well Dreams of Endless War ends with that little track... redone of course. It's a cheesy song but at least Norther make some good out of it.
I rate this album as I did when I first heard Kalmah's Swamplord. Finland to say the least is producing top-notch Metal bands. SO I command thee to go get this album!
