Drudkh - Premiere Another New Song
Drudkh just shared a new song today. After the track "Till Foreign Ground Shall Cover Eyes", you now get to listen to "Cursed Sons II" which is also the second single off their new output A Furrow Cut Short. Go ahead and enjoy the new tune here. Are you pleased with it?

The label describes the release: "With A Furrow Cut Short, Drudkh are continuing on the course charted with their previous release Eternal Turn Of The Wheel (2012), where the black and bleak sound of the band's roots seemed to overshadow the progressive and lighter tone of Handful Of Stars (2010). Mastermind Roman Sayenko is heavily drawing inspiration from 20th century Ukrainian poetry once more, which often deal with the bloody struggle of this old country to build a nation from foreign oppression. Drudkh still refuse any kind of interview or promotion and demand to be understood through their music alone. This album equally represents the blood soaked sound of black despair and full hearted resistance to vile treachery and evil as well as the beauty of landscapes and culture."

The brickwall mastering on a meh mix is gonna ruin this album. It's a pitty 'cause the new songs seem to be a step forward. Although nothing will ever top Autumn Aurora...

One of the most over-rated bands in the genre imo. Song is okay though. Better than some of the other stuff I have heard.

It's funny how different headphones/equipment can make the same song sound totally different when it comes to black metal. The first time I heard this song at work I found it pretty meh, but now I'm enjoying it a lot. I think I'm gonna like this album

This sounds pretty great to me. Drudkh just scratch some itch for me, find the music very fulfilling. In reference to above comments I thought I'd share that, against popular opinion, I think Autumn Aurora is Drudkh's weakest BM album.

Written by Alien1988 on 09.04.2015 at 01:39 I dunno about Pagan, but Downfall of Nur nailed this style most recently for me. Au-Dessus mixes with the sound as well with a lot more variety. Then there is early Moonsorrow and later Nocturnal Mortum to consider.

Written by flightoficarus on 09.04.2015 at 02:11 I wouldn't even consider Moonsorrow or Nokturnal Mortum to be in the same genre as Drudkh. They use lots of keyboards and whatnot. They are more like folk black or pagan black whatever. Drudkh is atmospheric black, more akin to Skogen, Walknut and a lot of bands from the Cascadian scene. Also most of these bands got influenced by early Drudkh albums. If i had to name a band from the same genre as Drudkh that plays better music than they do lately, it would be either Wodensthrone or Ygg.

Written by roeder on 09.04.2015 at 03:26 Yeah, I agree that my picks are not quite the same save for Downfall of Nur which I think is relatively close. I just find the groups more purely in that style to be generally dull. It's more of a preferance than anything. Drudkh will make a solid riff, but it will be the only riff in the song. Being a guitar-inclined person that just gets frustrating.

They've been doing some tedious stuff for a while, and I don't know if this might be any different but for me, Drudkh was doing top-notch Atmo-BM up to Estrangement.

Written by Paz on 09.04.2015 at 08:42 My point was that I like that Au-Dessus only flirts with some of the sound while doing plenty of other stuff. I don't think that they sound the same, but I do think that any group that utilizes a form of post-black owes a lot to Drukh's first albums. More like elephant shit to newborn baby laughter: one is old, established, and unpleasant to me; the other is new and pleasing to the ears.
