Also explain why you chose that country
-please be honest and don't vote for a country because of one band
-I purposely left out Scandinavia, usa, UK, and germany

Brazil? Really? =p

I'd take probably France because of the overflowing avantgarde metal scene.
Also Ukraine and Russia have some pretty decent black metal scenes, it seems that bm is more bassy and badassy when done on that sides... But it's only black metal, I think I still prefer France because the avantgarde weirdness can be broader than only one genre.

Well, the top 6 countries from my collection pie graph are missing (I assume you left out Finland 'cause you mistook them for part of Scandinavia). So, from the next 2, I'd probably have to go with Netherlands, based mainly on several symphonic bands I like being from there, over Australia. Plus an average rating of 8.095238 is better than 7.6557377.

Well if I look at my collection then most albums come from Scandinavia, Finland, UK, USA and Germany but since we have to leave them out, the next one is Belgium... ehm yeah... not all that surprising since I'm Belgian myself and I like to check out bands from my own country to see how well they do compared to a lot of other great stuff around the world. And honestly the last couple of years the quality of the albums have become better and better.

Of the list though, I would probably go with Canada or Greece. Lots of good power metal in Greece tbh which is surprising since in general there aren't that many power metal bands that feel unique but most of the stuff I heard from Greek power metal bands like Firewind and Diviner feels refreshing in one way or the other. And Canada because of the fact that I like a lot of bands from that country + it's a country with a lot of variety in terms of subgenres. There's good progressive stuff, Death Metal stuff, heavy metal stuff. So in terms of variety that's probably the one I would go with.

Thank you guys for your feedback and opinions. The reason I left out Sweden, finland, Norway, usa, UK, and germany is because they are the typical countries that people think about when they think of metal countries. These countries are still metal powers but I would like to get an accurate reading on what other countries people enjoy in metal. Which is why I chose the above countries. Thank you

So, the best of the B countries, essentially.

Yeah. Out of these I would still probably give it to France. Either that or Canada. Both countries have produced quite unique things. My overall favourite metal countries arent here though, which is obviously the U.S. and U.K.

Maybe not in your opinion but I do think most people would call them an A country in terms quality output. If you look at the power metal genre, you'll see that a lot of the most liked albums in the genre were made in Germany.

Voted France because it's been a consistent powerhouse of experimentally inclined, forward thinking bands for over the past 10 years. And that doesn't seem to be letting up any time soon. They have a nicely developing hardcore/sludge scene at the moment as well that should also be acknowledged (Celeste, Fange, Cowards, Verdun etc).

Also kinda seconding MC Vice: another that's unfortunately not in the poll that I think deserves mention is Finland. I think they are starting to establish a reputation for very strange, psychedelically tinged metal, particularly via the "Wastement" collective based in Tampere (Oranssi Pazuzu, Dark Buddha Rising, Horse Latitudes, Hexvessel, Abyssion, a few others).

Only one or two worthwhile bands. All can think of are Riins Of Beverast and Nagelfar.

Of course there are probably more bad than good (as is usually the case), but I'd say there are some pretty great ones over there as far as the international BM scene as a whole is concerned. Verdunkeln, Nocte Obducta, and Klabautamann also come to mind. And while I find the guy somewhat overrated, ColdWorld aint half bad either

BM from Germany let me think
Nagelfar, Die Toden Kehrern Vider Mid Der Wind, Halgadom, Saxior and Licht- und Schattensaitenm Falneknbach also AEBA.

Some albums are good from: Dark Fortress , Lunar Aurora, Der Weg Einer Freiheit, Menhir,
Helrunar , Cryptic Wintermoon , Eis, aka Geist, Waldgeflüster,
Obsidian Gate , Black Autumn ... so plenty good BM bands produce, if those are not good, then what is good BM?

Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult are all I can think of. I like em, but nothing innovative or original about them.
Checking my collection, they've got Enid and Obsidian Gate, too. but I think Germany is still more known for power, thrash and folk metal.

China was a neat
Australia had a lot of consistent and strong bands but just not enough. France is good but quite inconsistent and some of their better bands like DsO, Reverence etc. are way too silent most of the time. Mories made a strong argument for Netherlands but just one man is not sufficient for a whole country. And Canada, greece and Italy have very little bands that I enjoy. So based upon frequency and quality of both established bands and the amount of upcoming new and promising bands I voted Poland.

Yea I meant bands that I'm interested in. Not sure about the ones you mentioned, I like Ortega and Nihill from your list and also Textures and Hail of Bullets. Not saying Maurice is the only strong statement from Netherlands but bands that count the most for me personally.

It really would've been my second choice after Poland though.

Awesome to see how many people like polands metal. Definately my second choice, I love behemoth, vader, decapitared, hate, Azarath, lost soul, mgla, and batushka.
