Cool cover at least, opener sounds like L'Enfant Sauvage so that's already a bit better than I thought.

Obviously can't wait for this. But hyping the album up for months and months does take some of the edge off for me. I didn't particularly like any of their singles so far so maybe that was their way of preparing us for a bigger change in their sound than what we've heard this far???

Magma had 2 phenomenal songs, and the rest I thought was underwhelming. Fortitude seems like much better rounded out album to me.

Compared to the last album I'm disappointed. It gets more boring the longer I listen to this album. Maybe being less heavy is not always a good thing. The highlights are Born For One Thing, Another World, and Into The Storm.

Posts: 1695 Written by Ball Fondlers on 30.04.2021 at 11:10 Lately I did the mistake of starting to check the votes and who voted when I thought a certain album had an oddly low score. Not gonna drop any names but there is a user that has over 1200 votes in less than a year since registration on the site. Amongst the big amount of 1 votes you can most notably find The Ocean - Phanerozoic II: Mesozoic / Cenozoic with a 8,3 score and voted best post metal album of 2020, Unleash The Archers - Abyss with a 7,9 and voted the best power metal album of 2020 but also John Petrucci - Terminal Velocity with a 7,8 and Thurisaz - Re-Incentive with a 7,9. At the same time Lucid Dreaming - The Chronicles Pt. III is given a 2 and that horrid album has a 3,2 score. In no way possible is that a better album than the ones mentioned above. And amongst the other 2's given you can find Oceans of Slumber, Lethian Dream, Lamb of God and Ensiferum just to name a few. Except Lucid Dreaming none of these bands or albums deserve a 1 or 2 rating. Although in his defense there's a lot of excellent albums given high ratings too. I also want to point out that people's taste in music differs of course but when you start giving a 1 to The Ocean you're just trolling so imo it's better to not vote at all if you dislike an album or a band. I've been on this site for 11 years and have 147 votes and I've never given a lower score than 5 and that's only happened twice. I rather give higher scores and write comments on albums I like than bashing on the ones I don't like and spreading negativity. And if I write a negative comment at least I try to explain why instead of just posting "This is crap". But that's just me. Sorry for long post  And yes, I think this album is excellent.

Posts: 8671 Written by Desha on 30.04.2021 at 13:27 Only done one playthrough so far, but the first three tracks were the ones where I found myself particularly engaged, which considering I was relatively indifferent when they were released as singles may either mean the rest will grow on me with a few listens, or that they only stand out because the rest of the album is even less engaging. I sadly expect I'll ultimately find this less enjoyable than Magma as an album
