Sólstafir - Hin Helga Kvöl [Single]

I dig the guitar tones and overall mix. The production from the technical perspective is really comendable. The vocal performance is not lacking the emotional aspect that feels essential to their sound.

And it's cool and interesting, when a band that has distanced itself from its heavier past, brings some of that heaviness back. That fact and the good production are almost enough to distract me from what I would consider weaker songwriting.

Im conflicted on what I want to rate this, is it a 6 or a 7? I'm not sure, something in between I suppose.

They tried and it's not bad but it's not really what I want from them. We'll see how their new album is when it's all together but after their last album plus this I definitely don't have high expectations.
