If you could get anything you want for your setup, what stuff would you buy? why?

If i could get anything, i would get a Jackson RR5 put 2 EMG 85s and a Peavy Valve King combo amp.

The tone on the valve king is one of the best I've ever heard.

I haven't really thought of that yet... I don't know enough leftie guitars as of now to figure out what my guitar soulmate is like. I really like Line 6 amps though.

I play bass, and will be getting a custom shop bass, but amp-wise I'd have to go with this:
http://www.carvin.com/products/single.php?ItemNumber=RL1018&CID=BA
1000W stack, 4 10"s, and 1 18"

Silhouette
Guitar: 'Mayones Regius' or 'Caparison Horus'
Guitar amp: 'Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier'

Bass: 'Spector Euro 6 LX' or 'Mayones Comodous-6' (6-string basses, of course!)
Bass amp: 'Kustom Groove Bass 1200HD' with 'Groove Bass 810' cab.

Drums: 'Pearl Masterworks' with 'Paiste' cymbals

Keyboard: 'Korg Triton Extreme'

Microphone: The 'Shure SM58' I use now is great, but I'd like to try a wireless 'Shure Beta58'.

(and yes, and play guitar, bass, drums and keyboard)

or a Krankenstien stack.

Krank = shit

sure, maybe your favorite bands play them, but how many have you heard in person? every Krank-playing band on ozzfest this year, it was very difficult to hear the guitars in the mix....only one i've heard live that was even audible was Nevermore, and that was in a club.

most of the bands endorsing them also recorded with other amps, such as the Peavey 5150 (aka 6505)

and have you ever played one in person? i fucked around with a couple and couldn't get anything i liked out of it....the bassist in my band was there also, and he didn't like what he heard either.

now, for me personally, even if they did sound awesome, i'd probably still never buy one, because i disagree with their business practices....plus i think their name sucks and they look horrible.

i think you mean he might want to save up for an Original Floyd Rose......the one that's on the guitar stock is a Jackson-branded licensed one.

i've got quite the dream list,

as far as guitars go:
Lado 2004 Earth Series
Jackson RR1 w/ EMGs
Jackson WRXT (warrior) with a floyd-rose pro bridge

mods i'd make on my current guitar (a fender mexi-strat)
seymour duncan pickups (hot rails, vintage rails, and cool rails)
a kahler bridge
and i might paint it white and give it a black pickguard

as far as amps, a Marshall JCM DSL full stack would suit me. and as far as effects go, anything from boss or visual sound.

My dream set up is Christian Wolbers signature dinky. It fits my standards perfectly, plus it's all I really need. As far as my dream amp goes, I've already bought it, it's a Peavey 5150 head. I'm still on the market for a good cabinet speaker to run it through.

My dream drumset would be a Pearl Reference or Masterworks set...a large set with lots of toms, 2 bassdrums, some really good pedals, high-end Paiste or Sabian cymbals and the best bass drum pedals...maybe Axxis or Tama Iron Cobra's.

note: I play keyboards

For some time I really wanted a cool Korg or Roland synth (one of both usually) but nowdays I really think that the perfect set up would be a really cool costom Evolution midi keyboard, a realativly new laptop with 32bit ASIO sound card... That's it... It's cheaper and if you know what you're doing it may sound even better and give much more options that whatever other keyboards can give you... and you don't need to really use the laptop while performing... you can control everything from the keyboard and just need to laptop on and plugged in the PA...
That's my dream set up and I think I'm quite close to get it... all I need is a not so new laptop and things would be perfect...

Guitar: Bernie Rico Jr. Vixen w/ Floyd Rose with 34 frets
The Jackson that Mark Morton used on Ozzfest. Can someone tell me the name of it? It was a yellow with a black boarder. I'd like that with 24 frets. No Floyd.

Strings: Elixir 10s Anti-Rust. They've lasted since Christmas!

Amps: Peavey 5150 head with Krank Cab

Guitar: Jackson King V USA, Floyd Rose, dual humbuckers - likely a DiMarzio X2N in the bridge and probably an Evolution neck pickup. Coil taps for both pickups. Probably gloss black.
Guitar: Neil Moser Custom Shops Bastard V, Floyd Rose, 24 frets, mahogany body neck, ebony fretboard, set neck, same pickups as on the King V. Once again, coil taps. Since it would be a custom, it would probably be a glossy red stain. I love that look.
Guitar: Gibson Les Paul (not decided on model or anything... It would involve me heading down to the nearest Gibson dealership and playing every damn LP in the store until I find one that I like. I've heard too much of their quality control lately...) Possibly a switch to Seymor Duncan Alcino II Pro pickups. After all, I do like to play more than metal on occasion. Coil taps once more! Heh. Finish... Not picky on this guitar, though I'd prefer a sunburst sort of color here.

Amp: Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier with matching cab (Played through one a few times, I love them.)
Amp: SCR Barker (Handmade locally - it's because I do play more than just metal - these amps are amazing. There's one place that sells them and I live about 30-40 minutes away from it.)

Pedal: Maxon OD808/Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer - these are pretty much the same, depends on which one is at the store I end up heading to.

I have 3 dream guitars which i hope to get someday:
  • Jackson Randy Rhoads RR1T (black)
  • Gibson Flying V (w/ black pickguard)
  • Esp Eclipse II VB

At the moment i'm using an Esp/Ltd M-200.

For amplification i prefer Laney equipment. In my band rehearsals i use a Laney GH-100 TI and it's just perfect, especially for lead guitar works.
