i had a very hard time for a long time accepting the band because of their female singer. I have nothing against females in bands but it was just weird for me. Eventually i got over it and i like them a lot. Sometimes their sound reminds me of Blind Guardian but thats like on Rise of the Tyrant and Anthems of Rebellion.

For instance, I Will Live Again on Rise of the Tyrant, i thought the cd was jacked up because it sounded familiar and i figured it was Blind Guardian because of the power metal elements

Yes, that song is in the extras on the disc two of wages of sin. And its John on the vocals, I think its a good cover.

Every single person I introduced Arch Enemy to refused to believe that it was a woman in the vocals. I often had to provev it by showing them videos. In fact, Angela has an amazing vocal power, and that was one of the factors that led me to like the band's work.

I think her voice was at its prime in Wages of Sin. I don't know if anyone noticed, but her voice sounded more and more distorted with each release, to me at least.

She used effects on her first three albums, but claims that her voice is completely unaltered on the newest album.

I must confess I can't tell the difference right away. I thought I did, but since I first listened to her, I didn't know what to think anymore. Maybe I just need a little more practice.

I wouldn't say it's s*it, but I will say "Doomsday Machine" is way better.

If its shit why was it considered one of the best albums of the year? Because they are so overrated these days? So are Dream Theater and Systematic Chaos wasnt appreciated at all.

I definitely prefer Rise Of The Tyrant over Doomsday Machine - I don't think it's as great as their best album with Angela IMO, "Wages Of Sin," but it's the first Arch Enemy disc I've listened to more than a month past its release (and still am), because it actually has some replay value to me!

You guys are crazy,mike amott totally blew it on this one.All the riffs are horribly reminicent ov bad japanese 80s music and arch-ripp-offs.Theres no way Doomsday is inferior,sadly its only gonna go down hill4 these guys.(and one chick)

well i have just a suggestion about what play Arch Enemy!! i din't like call it Gothenburg Metal because that's have a relation with the place; in my opinion Metal doesn't have any country, "Metal For All"

musically they are always good, but damn i wish they had never changed vocals, and dont like angels vocals at all thats why i gave up on the band.

for the rest its been a nice progression musically for the band still maintaning agression as well as classic feel of heavy metal and melodic rock.

I was impressed by a fact that woman can growl like that!!!!
