I already have quite a few albums to look forward to in 2016, so I figured we'd go ahead and get this thread started. The two so far are the upcoming Ctheilist and Lycus albums. Ctheilist embody all that is great with strange Lovecraftian death metal, while Lycus are an incredibly solid funeral doom outfit.

Anyone here has open mind today? Probably not but Ill post this anyway. Cant really give a description on this, but the female vocals are top notch - the range.

The heaviest thing I've heard in a while, and one of the best straight up drone doom records I've encountered too. Love the constant hazy feedback so it doesn't sound flat at all as drone often can. You just know this band would be immense live.

P.S., don't turn your speakers up to compensate for the quiet beginning, or you'll get an unpleasant surprise at the 06.11 mark.

Some gems I found from March:

New Book Of Sand:

Book Of Sand - Occult Anarchist Propaganda

Also brutal death meets banjo:

Ommadon - Ommadon

Good stuff, but I'd personally add some tortured vocals to it

I certainly wouldn't be against that at all, but I am liking the purity of it. "Blackened" things are a bit en vogue at the moment which I think is what it would end up being like. Hell, I even bought this pizza the other day. Probably been listening to too much Lord Mantis.

It's pretty good. I don't think the Shataan project is quite up there with some of the others but they have an interesting sound going on with that one.

Also, new Wreck and Reference on the way. Gives me a certain Netra vibe, but definitely is not as good.

Wreck and Reference -Indifferent Rivers Romance End

Seems like they ript the end of this song for Powders? Or is my hearing bad today?

New Hyponic is out. Another band (fuck, I am starting to hate on the one who is supposed to add bands here) that should be here, not many bands come from China.

Absolutely love this. Quite raw sounding black metal from Iceland but with eerie riffs and atmosphere, that remind me a little bit of Arizmenda's style at points. Such good production and sound. Wish it was longer.

Turns out there's 2 EPs from it this year. Sounds more or less identical. Actually this one is way more intense. Great stuff.

I think it sounds more like Xasthur than Arizmenda, but it's great anyways.

I can hear some superficial Xasthur sounds, but the intense, bendy and overlapping riffs don't make me think of Xasthur much.

Now that you mention it, those riffs sound like Arizmenda even though Arizmenda was never that intense.

Yeah Arizmenda's production is a bit less abrasive. I think I actually once compared Arizmenda's debut to Xasthur, amongst a few other bands, so there's definitely a connection there somewhere.

Wow, I'm jealous as I would love to rediscover them again for the first time. Definitely listen to their first album. Quite possibly my fave black metal album, although I could say that about a few.

It's one of those records that whenever I listen to it I find it hard to believe something so good can exist. Probably overselling it a bit!
