I already have quite a few albums to look forward to in 2016, so I figured we'd go ahead and get this thread started. The two so far are the upcoming Ctheilist and Lycus albums. Ctheilist embody all that is great with strange Lovecraftian death metal, while Lycus are an incredibly solid funeral doom outfit.

Too lazy to check if this has been reced before, its a couple of months old. But Ive been listening to this a bit and I think its worth a rec. Its comes from Altar productions (same as Cendelabrum and that band Susan reviewed). More bass this time though;) Its bm but the production is so deranged that it could be any genre. Ive only found 2 songs streaming for you guys but the whole thingy is out there if you like it.

Since we don't have any New Recs for 2037 thread. Posting it here temporarily. Progressive grind from Norway.

New album from the math metal group Car Bomb. Surprised they still keep going when some of their best peers like The Number Twelve Looks Like You and even The Dillinger Escape Plan are quitting. Always awesome to hear new stuff from these guys anyway as it easily among the most deranged and coolest stuff ever.

Grindcore-ish Techdeath or Progressive Grind. Drums probably too prominent in the mix, make sure you tweak your equalizer before listening (which is all I do these days since I don't really completely enjoy any production as it comes).

Muscle and Marrow

well I don't know. I think they should have a safe place on MS data base, especially given the fact that there are a bunch of weirdos really loving strange female fronted doom.

BioShock-themed proggy sludge anyone? I like the vocalist's growls. They kinda reminds me of Mikael Åkerfeldt. Maybe that's just him...

Jazzy post-black anyone?

Respire - Gravity And Grace

Had to try this out as theyve borrowed their title from Simone Weil. The mix of instruments is good but its way too much feelings in this for me. The guy(s) singing sounds really torn apart Probably a very good album for post-hardcore/blackers though. Do you like it Karla?

Well, yep =]
Not much into post hardcore myself, but when it's too "feely" like that it's hard to ignore.
But to be honest what catches my attention the most here is the use of trumpets

Some kvlty black/doom. Cant come up with any resemblances Great stuff.

I throughly enjoyed it. Their band name is also really nice. I got the feeling of gongs being played throughout reminiscent of WITTR's To Reveal, their vinyl bonus track from Two Hunters, an already double establishment of a hypnotic reverie ending on top of I Will Lay My Bones...

I gots the impression that everyone has already seen it floating around before. Blackened sludge / funeral doom. Quite glazed on my second approach, decent stuff. Nice Beksinski tribute too, one of the nicer covers I've seen all year.

Still have not heard the whole thing, and currently am on shitties earbuds imaginable, but this seems to be some massive black metal with hints of death and doom. It's like dragged into sunlight meshed up with BaN:

Some death metal that taked major influence from ulcerate. Not as destructive, and definitely more moody and fragile.

Unf, this is some of the best sludge doom I've heard in a while. Mechanically heavy but groovy with one of the best and most versatile vocalist I've heard in a bit.

Appreciate this recommendation for sure, I absolutely love this shit. Can't believe I haven't heard of these guys before.

They seem to have had a little bit of attention but still probably mostly known in the UK. Hopefully I'll get a chance to catch them live at some point.

Once again recommending these guys. Their last album ended pretty high on my 2015 list and the new one will be out by the end of the month. The first song sounds delicious. Still not sure whether to put them in the metal or non-metal thread. Last year I went with the latter so I'll take the former this time around. It's heavy psychedelic rock I guess, but heavy enough for metal heads to like.

Here ya go:

Hard to describe this. Quirky, riffy technical prog with a huge grunge edge. Spazzy, but catchy. Really good.
