well i think trivium is really cool .. really good good band. They are metalcore with some trash influences. however they are an awesome band with great guitarrists, nice bass and good drumming and well a good voice (some parts are really hard and you get bored) but i think THEY ARE AWESOME..I will see them on s.o.t.u with as i lay dying and cannibal corpse
What's your opinion about this band ?

Oh yeah, I also love Shogun. And I mean every single bit of it. The titletrack is one of the best songs i've ever heard. And the óthers are cool as well!

Trivium are great, especialy in their last album Shogun, which is less brutal then Ascendency but I think it's for the best . Too bad their performance is shitty, I wanted to see them live...

It has been a great evolution since their first shitty album, Ember to Inferno, then Ascendancy which was a nice metalcore album, The Crussade was a weird crossover thing for me, not awesome but not bad either, and now with Shogun... well, with Shogun the reassure themselves as (Bay Area?) Thrash metal now.

Shogun mixed the two best bits of "The Crusade" and "Asendency" together to create an awesome album. But....

did this thread refer to Trivium being thrash?

I thought they were Metalcore?

I wouldn't say shogun was that thrashy, but yeah I see your point.

They are not real metalcore, I guess, they started off doing metalcore, but I would refer to Shogun as "modern thrash metal", with a changing vocal style. and there are loads of progressive elements in their music too. and btw, Shogun is pure guitar porn.

Im not 'that' into Trivium. My brother is, but there are some that I really like. I love that song from Shogun. Not sure what its called but it has this line. "Time will not heal, all of your pain"
I don't know I just listened to it through the computer Haha.

Their instrumentals are beautiful, I only wish they made alot more. Ashes made me cry. It was because it reminded me of the dead. I lost alot of my cousins through suicide. -sigh- Yes, I'm still a wuss. lmao.

Oh yeah? I also asked a friend to make a piano version of Ashes. And I soooo love him for that and I friggen love the song
Maybe I can share it... with his permission of course.

^^^ I didn't know they had instrumentals...I may like those.

I never could get into this band. I've seen them before on a few occasions but it just didn't sway me. I think it's the vocals that kill it for me. meh.

^^ haha yeah, goes for the same to me. It's too... I dunno... too.. sloppy. (Sorry Trivium freaks)
But, yeah, the instrumentals are amazing. The End Of Everything is really dark. They should make an album... all with just instrumentals.

Guys, the new track, Shattering the Skies Above, is online.
It's fucking amazing, they advanced even more and the solos tear it apart!

Yeah, the new song is awsome, and for me it's the best on God of War's soundtrack. I'm really looking for their new album, but I'm afraid it'ill be hard to top Shogun.
BTW, what prog influences there are on Shogun? I only noticed that the solo's riff on Down from the Sky has a wierd time signature and thats the solo itself is in chromatic scale.

Yeah Personally...

Trivium stopped being interesting right after Ascendancy IMO
I don't feel this intensity anymore, they stopped the scream... which was simply awesome
The Hardcore sound is slipping away from them -_-
And they were one of the bests at it, so sad

I agree with you that they went down hill with The Crusade. But Shogun is truly a return to form. A very well constructed and thought out album, with some epic tunes, riffs and solos.

Shogun is one of my favorite albums and I really thought it sounded like all the good elements from past albums all came together on this one. It also is one of the few albums that just get better as the albums goes on. After the first half, you wonder if they can keep going with these badass songs, and then the second half actually gets better. I heard the new album they are making will be less complex and more like Ascendancy. They even went so far as to go back to using drop D tuning as they did on that album and ditch the 7 strings. While Ascendancy is a great album, it sounds like a step back to me. I guess we'll just have to see the end product before we judge though.
