Everyone's fave slavic black metal band (don't take literally). These guys are gaining some serious momentum. 4 highly praised full lengths in as many years, they're big business.
Playing a very unusual style and form of black metal they seem to focus more on nature and a warm, encompassing atmosphere that you would never expect to find in this genre. This band really don't need any introduction really, everyone knows 'em.
My personal fave albums are their first two, I much prefered the warmness and congenial approach on them concerning the actual music. 'Autumn Aurora' is my absolute fave. 'The Swan Road' was lost on me, as I suspect 'Blood In Our Wells' will be too when I get around to listening to it properly. The production on both was vastly different, giving the albums a different standpoint to the other two. Ceratinly not bad albums though.

Hmmm...I'm actually less impressed with Eternal Turn of the Wheel on my second listen. Drudkh have fallen into formulaic territory, and it's a bit disheartening. All the atmospheric riffs on this record are, for lack of a better word, lacking. They don't have that majesty that previous Drudkh tracks pulled off so effortlessly. "When Gods Leave their Emerald Halls" is particularly weak, although the other tracks do have their moments. But when "it has its moments" is the critical summary for a Drudkh record, that's a problem. I daresay I might call this their weakest release. That said, it's not a bad record. But for a band with an excellent track record like Drudkh, we all expect something better than this.

Written by Apatheria on 04.03.2012 at 01:50 indeed it is a very lacking record. with the newer releases by Drudkh they always seem like their lurking in their own talent, and not trying their best.

I'd have to agree. Their music just sounds complacent as opposed to passionate nowadays. It's a bummer.

Agree fully with previous three comments. They've fallen into a formula. Autumn Aurora is a fantastic record, maybe a masterpiece.
