I already have quite a few albums to look forward to in 2016, so I figured we'd go ahead and get this thread started. The two so far are the upcoming Ctheilist and Lycus albums. Ctheilist embody all that is great with strange Lovecraftian death metal, while Lycus are an incredibly solid funeral doom outfit.

Kinda southern rock tinged death/doom in the vein of Dream Death eventhough it leans more towards the earlier. Frankly blows the new DD right out of the park. Unbelievably good guitar tone. If you like metal you will love this, simple as that.

Now back to Orbelisk. These guys are very prolific. More noisy/electronic/multilayered triphop. Love how all of his stuff start off chilled out and relaxing and slowly devolve into noisy insanity. This album is especially very HNW-ish.

Orbalisk - Decaying Synthetic Afterglow: Night Frequencies I

I guess it is better to merge your recommendations together. Just saying.

Any specific reason for that? I see I usually post a series of recs but you might see they are quite some time apart so its all albums I've fully listened, so unless I write them down rightaway I probably might forget how it was.

This guy's noise is quite interesting. Not as torturous as the major players. Part II of the album I posted above.

New recommendations
Do not have much information about this band. It is a short song, amusingly adopted from their forthcoming record. Solid BM:

Yet another raw sounding psychedelic-ish BM band from Iceland. One song available is good enough.

Endalok-Englaryk

new side project of Pyrrhon . It has more flow and is generally less abstract than that band. I liked it a lot.

nice sympho black from Switzerland. I typically do not like this style, but this is too good to be missed.

Frozen Gate-Behind The Dark Ice

Some rotten doom death, very effective and solid. Wished it was longer:

Innumerable Forms-Promo 2016

new project of Phil McSorley( ex-cobalt). It alsofeatures vocals from " legendary" Wlad Drakksteim of Vlad Tepe. I assume it is a tribute to LLN. Not sure if I am very happy with the final product, especially the vocals.

Have stopped following DDR lately, but this is really nice, forward thinking black metal. Not that it is similar, but I assume tribulation could have sounded like this if they wanted to play ritualistic black metal.

Nox Formulae-The Hidden Paths to Black Ecstasy

EDIT: moreover, new lithotom track from an split in this link . Sounds damn excellent to me.

I appreciate not seeing your profile pic 10 times in one page
but seriously, I guess each page of MS can contain a limited number of posts regardless of their length. So, if you merge them, more albums will fit into one page, making it easier for people to see the recs.

but seriously, I have one really shitty pair of earbuds now. Most of the things I recommend here I just have skimmed through and post them here for my own future reference.

Hmm I've always assumed the length of the page is irrespective to the number of posts. Thx anyway, duly noted.

Improvised sludge/drone. Very mush spritual and meditative, with obvious eastern/ tribal influences. Really love this thing:

Filthy fucking war death metal from France. Really well executed and fitting production.

Cult Of The Horns - Chapter I - Domination

Crust influenced dm vocals with nice solos too. Probably a single from an upcoming album.

Manic Adrift - Towers

"Raw. Primitive. With Hatred for Trends, Posers, and Internet Worshipers." Ironic, considering that is their only audience. Very very lo-fi, almost crappy sounding tbh.

Artifact Of Skulls - Heretic Wargoat Legion

Another EP from the same project. Somewhat better.

Artifact Of Skulls - III: Luciferian Blasphemy

Groovy, swedish osdm from California. But not very outstanding, just average stuff. Listen if you are a dm fan.

Horns Of Baphomet - Dismembered At The Stake

Finally for the desert course as a cherry on the top. More awesome Orbalisk. Again quite noisy.

Orbalisk - Formation Of A Planet

Another split from them.

Orbalisk & Emaciated - SPACED01

Well, Dark Descent records is having a nice run of wonderful recs. More good stuff from them.

Osdm Death metal from USA. Full lenght to be out by Nov 11. Will definitely keep on eye on this. It is THAT good.

Ruinous - Grave Of Ceaseless Death

New Krypts album. Thought it was an ep but our resident Marcel has said its an 33 min full lenght. Guess we peasants needs to wait for the full thing to be out though. And damn, gotta really love that artwork.

Krypts - Remnants Of Expansion

Very Relaxed and chilled ambient/soft noise stuff. Not too variety and songwriting for me but some people might like it. And it definitely sounds like tbe stuff Joe likes and recommends around the site lately

Garmr - Mendelbrot

Not very much happening but this is stuff was instantly tasty to me when listened watching at that artwork.

Garmr - I. AM 162A ζ

""Baldrs Draumar" is Garmr's first full-fledged release. The EP is a punishing blend of harsh noise, grindcore, and powerviolence, best paired with its sister piece, the "Manuscripts" EP. We recommend starting with the "Manuscripts" EP, and finishing with "Baldrs Draumar." This record is the culmination of months of hard work, and a lot of fucking around.

This album is currently being recorded. No release date has been determined. The track "AM 748 I 4to" is available to stream and download now. Clicking "Free Download" on this page will not get you the entire album at this time, only "AM 748 I 4to".

Six part Experimental/Atmoblack album from Italy inspired by the likes of Stephen King's Dark Tower, Wagner and Bach. Symphonic parts, brass instrumentation and string arrangements are neat and quite exquisite indeed. Very commendable undertaking. All 6 records are released in 6 months interval. Series ends on Jan 1, 2017.

Dawn Of A Dark Age - The Six Elements, vol.3 Fire

Vol 4 of the same album series.

Dawn Of A Dark Age - The Six Elements, vol.4 Air

"An entheogenic wandering on blazing desert planes. Heat and sun will reveal the forms." Nice dsbm-ish heathen metal from Netherlands. Kinda like the artwork a lot.

Iskandr - Zon

Really well written black metal. This label is doing a stellar job in picking out good stuff. Full thing to be out by Nov 15. Highly recommended for bm fans.

Richly melodic, very atmospheric, almost celestial atmoblack. Kinda like what In The Woods were doing early in their career. Much better than WITTR from what I remember about that band. Sweet album for atmoblack fans. Actually its a "Best Of" sort of collection it seems.

Wonders Of Nature - Lähde Polar Myrskyt

Their other new full lenght.

Wonders Of North - Winter

A compilation of demos starting from 2015.

Wonders Of Nature - In The Darkness Of Night

Another demo for a future full lenght in 2017.

Wonders Of Nature - Legenda Revontulet [Demo]

Cover albums featuring cover of songs from bands he is inspired by.

Wonders Of Nature - In Quiet Silence [Cover Album]

Another full lenght I guess from the same project. Gotta love the photographs he choses for the covers. Really stellar stuff.

Wonders Of Nature - Winter Forest

Must be another of his full lenghts. Very atmospheric frozen goodness. Music for mountains to listen to.

Wonders Of Nature - Mysterious Peaks

More atmoblack from US.

Eneferens - The Inward Cold

A group of well respected underground death metal bands including Antediluvian ,Vassafor , Grave Upheaval and Temple Nightside . paying tribute to Cold Meat Industry. Despite being a collection of songs from different bands, it is absoloutly great. The best DM-ish record of the year. The first track indeed sounds like a doom death track written for a dark ambient lable.

Ancient Meat Revived - A Tribute To Cold Meat Industry

More from Ironbonehaed: don;t know what to call it. Maybe blackend Gothic or blackend rock'n roll. Sound all good.

Light Of The Morning Star - Cemetery Glow

Polish Avantgarde Black Metal. Sounds a bit underdeveloped with a lot of potential tbh. Shame on you Paz:)

duszę wypuścił -Przekrólewszczenie ZERO

A three track EP of great blackend death metal. The style is seriously similar to the first EP of Bolzer, and the quality is not that far either tbh. This has been produced by Greg Chandler (Esoteric, Lychgate).

Oh yeah this is definitely one of my favorite debuts from 2016. I'd say blackened gothic is pretty spot on since it feels a bit as if Type O Negative started playing black metal.
