Rhapsody...one of the cheesiest bands ever, hmm...maybe one of the best...each and every one of their albums contains epic choral arrangements, soaring vocals, mindblowing instrumentation, and of course, the quality that defines the band...the orchestra...unlike some bands, who have an orchestra just to hide the horrid quality of their music, Rhapsody uses it in a way to make you want to slay orcs and dragons, lol...yes I know...nowadays, the method of combining orchestras and choruses to power metal is almost standard...however, Rhapsody was one of the first to use it, and use it to its full potential...anyways, the orchestra rocks...makes it more epic...Rhapsody has been one of the biggest and most influential epic metal bands ever...climactic, epic songs full of adventure...and now, actor Christopher Lee (who plays Saruman in the Lord of the Rings movies) does most of the narrations for their albums...I find it really captivating, and exciting (and cheesy)...much neoclassical stylings on the guitar, and some absolutely crushing lines...of course, most of the songs go at 100 miles per hour, with doublebass and palm muted chords apounding, and the synths laying down a barrage of notes...as usual...however, they do have some great ballads...it doesnt matter...highly recommended (at least by me)...Rhapsody is one of the most unique bands of the power metal scene...so...welcome brother, to the world of power metal...a dangerous land filled with dragons, steel, magic, orcs, demons, wizards, and lots of cheese...power metal has some of the highest levels of cheese in any sort of music, but anyways...I think its great...and you should also check Luca Turilli's side project.

Fabio Lione (vocals)
Luca Turilli (guitar)
Alex Staropoli (keyboards)
Patrice Guers (bass)
Alex Holzwarth (drums)

if you dont know anything about Rhapsody, well, this video speaks for itself...

I've heard that it's mostly slow, ulta-orchestral stuff ('Lamento Eroico' spings to mind). A friend of mine who's heard it described it as a giant orchestral building that fizzles out because of a lack of speed.

Not , too far
It has also have a strong song but there is the influence of Luca in this album for sure

The epic "the Mystic Prophecy of the Demonknight" is a highlight. In this song Fabio uses his extreme voice again, and the narration is pretty good. Besides, all of the 3 ballads are both good, though I don't think it's necessary to include 3 ballads in a Power metal album

Hmm, I think it's still a good album in spite of its slow atmosphere. And as I said before, there are still some good songs like the last 2 song and the 3 ballads. And I think it's more amazing than "SoEL II"

i think it took me a while writing out its title. hahaha
i think it is good, it isnt overwhelmingly good or anything like that - but it is constantly entertaining which is unlike some bands where they do long songs and you lose interest half way though

the whole album is really good on a whole i think.
'Triumph Or Agony' is probably the catchiest song on the album, i like that a lot

yeah, I agree, 'Triumph Or Agony' is the catchiest song, and along with 'Heart Of The Darklands', is like Rhapsody's music on the albums of 'Emerald Sword Saga', very symphonic and i think i can't use the word 'slow' to describe those songs

Well....im not a big fan of Rhapsody but the live album makes me crazy....also i heard too much people saying before the album that Rhapsody its just a studio band (i can say anithing cuz i never se them live after or before that).......but after the album the sae people says...oh ! what a brilliant band on stage, so im not that kind of person....since first time i heard Rhapsody i keep with them but with some albums that i really like it , and the new album arent the best of them but its nice but i have to heard it more

The album is really nice and decent The tempo isn't quite what we are used to, but considering the new Luca Turilli album it was quite obvious that Rhapsody are going to slow down, too. Personal favourites are 'The Myth of the Holy Sword' (Those riffs really make you want to march with a sword in your hand) and 'The Mystic Prophecy of the Demonknight" due to its compexity

I love cheese, but Rhapsody has....too much cheese. Cheese overdose...cheese overkill....I really like them, though, in small, small doses.

i kinda got annoyed at a magazine we have over here called terrorizer
one month it reviews the new Cradle Of Filth album - which i think is the worst they have ever done! - and they give it 8 out of 10

the next month they review this new Rhapsody album - which i quite like - and they give it a 4 out of 10

okay after a few listens the album isnt really that gripping, and it isnt anywhere near Rhapsody's best, but it is still good!
the only thing that i can poke at is with the name change - how they said it would bring out a new Rhapsody and got us all thinking they may sound a bit different, (maybe a bit more firey) but the album is the complete opposite
oh well. i still 'like' the album - a lot more then some other new albums coming out

It's sadly all opinion, especially magazines are known to be rather anti-powermetal, apart from the usual suspects (Dragonforce, Blind Guardian, Maiden I reckon).

This new album is really good, and I was a bit surprised with the change of name. The biggest surprise for me was the fact that France has a special edition with 3 bonus tracks! And its true that the band has taken a more story telling orientation.

Legal reasons. Another band already used the name I believe and they were forced to change it.

i dont think it was another band - if it was another band, surely this would have all have come out in 1997
i think it is something to do with this 'real' thing http://www.rhapsody.com/welcome.html
maybe they wanted the name Rhapsody, and did what they could to get it?
