A great death band in my opinion. Great growls, and wow, that woman sounds so amazing!

Yea, that's true, but that's like mere basics to make an average video.
A good video, in my opinion, has more than just passion

Arch Enemy - We Will Rise (the video) is way better in my mind.

Did you notice that the "My Apocalypse" video was basically the same thing as the "Nemesis" video? It almost looked like they used the same video and played another song over it.

Hahaha, I didn't really pay attention to it, but now that you mention it there are some .. huge similarities. Have they worked with the same producer for those two video's ?

I recently got "Burning Bridges" and I must say it was a damn good album ... amazing riffs and songs ... really great!

Great album, it´s my prefered too and i can´t chose a best one out of these songs, they are almost all amazing.
Joan Liiva is fantastic on this album, i love his vocals, specialy in Angels Claws and The Imortal...mutch better than Angela.

Just a random thought: it says they were formed in 1996, that's 10 years ago so shouldn't they start playing in tuxedo's or sumething? Hmmm, i wonder if Angela would look good in a skirt?

If they were formed in 1996 then that must've been a busy ass year for them...forming, going through possible member changes, finding a label, recording Black Earth...Remus, what're you talking about....tuxedos? pls explain that...I'm sure that they formed in 1994 or 1995...Angela would look so fuckin' hott in a skirt man!

Why the hell would Christopher Amott leave in order to concentrate on his studies anyway...I mean, he's probably making good money in Arch Enemy and to leave for something like that isn't nessesarily a smart idea...hell, if I was in University and an oppurtunity like Arch Enemy came up I would certainly take it...

I heard from a friend that if a band is 10 years old then the members are allowed to wear classy stuff like suits. System of a Down are doing it i think. But let's face it, we probably won't be seeing Arch Enemy doing it. As for Chris leaving, maybe he has so much money saved up he doesn't need to work anymore so he thought he might give studying a shot. Pure speculation though. 'Don't think bands like them make a lot of money.

@Remus: There is an unwritten rule that a band is allowed to wear tuxedos after ten years of being a band? cool...I'll remember that one...nice speculation about having the money saved up and such...I don't think bands like them make a lot of money...I never did...members from bands like those probably make about...$26,000/year...somewhere in that range...$20-30,000/year tops...

I don't think they do it for the money anyway! I finally got Doom's day machine, i know, a bit late, and i don't think it's anywhere near as good as Wages of Sin or Anthems of Rebellion! What do you guys think, have they lost their touch?

Don't you think that "Doomsday Machine" is more agressive and strong than the previous albums? I think this last album is more extreme or have I to say extreme again?

No i don't. The guitars are less heavy and the only killer song on the album in my opinion is Nemesis. I am legend has some cool riffs but it's not quite the done thing. Also the production values are identical if not worse than those of Anthems of Rebellion. I thought that sound-quality wise every new album is supposed to be an improvement over your last one. Only thing that has improved is Angela's vocals. I don't like Daniel's snare drum one bit. Anyway i saw a preview of their just about to be released DVD and it looks freaking awsome! Can't wait for that one!!!

Still, Arch Enemy are my favourite extreme-metal band and even if they stop releasing good stuff(i hope their next album will amaze me) i'll keep on listening to them just because of Wages of Sin and ANthems of Rebellion!

arch enemy is really nice, i like angela's voice but i think they need to improve or evolve a bit..since their music is getting repetitive, this is my personal opinion of course.

I also noticed it when I wrote the album review for it

Damn only just found this thread, I was looking in the melodic metal section...

Doomsday Machine is definitely heavier, less melodic. The melody's still there (Nemesis chorus anyone?) but it's not as dominant. Also Angela's vocals seem more guttural/phlegmy, if that makes sense!

doomsday Machine is excellent, and yeah it´s heavier but at least in my my opinion I think that´s better My favorite from that album has to be Skeleton Dance. That song is just to until the end.

Generally that album is brilliant, but my favourite tracks are Taking Back My Soul and Nemesis.

Wages Of Sin is their best I think though.

I don't really like the stuff with their former vocalist (whose name escapes me), the musics just as good, I just don't like his vocals that much. It's a mix of screaming and wheezing methinks.

Johan Liiva. I'm not sure what the hell you meant by " mix of screaming and wheezing methinks", but his voice was unique. I think one of the main reason's people like Angela so much is because she's a woman doing growl vocals and that's the most amazing thing ever.

Well, I don't really care for Johan either, He's alright I guess but Angela is amazing. I don't like her just because she's female. The first time I heard Arch Enemy was not too long after Wages of Sin came out and I didn't know it was a woman's voice. She can outscream most men.

Well, I agree to a certain extent. I was the same way when I first heard Wages of Sin. Her voice got really old though, she doesn't sound like she has any range. Plus, her voice sounds weaker to me on Doomsday Machine.

Felt like commenting. I am not a huge fan, but I am a Michael Amott fan though. I enjoy this band earlier works with Johan 'Liiva' Axelsson on vocals. Not sure, but their music had a kind of sick desperation back then. I also liked the overall atmosphere more. Not sure. That's about it.

It may be true that she doesn't have much of a range but there are many great metal vocalists that use the same sound. Johan didn't really have a range either though. He pretty much used the same voice- like shouting with a slight raspiness to it. His voice is hard to describe but I'm sure you know what I mean. I really think Angela's stronger voice enhances Arch Enemy's brutal music.

Good point. I contradicted myself with the whole range thing. I do know what you mean about Johan though, but for some reason I find his voice great, and all the albums with him to be awesome.

Sure. Maybe Johan's voice is an acquired taste, but I enjoyed it. It kind of reminded me of Carl McCoy's voice. Anyway, there are much more efficient Death Metal vocalists of being "brutal", in my opinion, than either of them. So it's not really a matter of who's better, just who I prefer.

I think Johan is slightly better on SOME of the faster Arch Enemy songs, such as the ones on Burning Bridges, but Angela owns on the heavier, more powerful songs. Can you imagine Johan doing vocals for Lament of a Mortal Soul and Taking Back My Soul? That would be horrible.

Well, I also enjoy Arch Enemy's earlier work instrumentally too. They sound a bit generic these days. Though I never doubt Amott's ability.
