I've already seen a bunch of 2015 releases being announced, and even streaming in full in some locations, so I figured I'd go ahead and create a place for those releases to be posted. To start we'll have the new Swamp Witch album The Slithering Bog. It's a sludge filled doom album that simply slays, and is streaming in its' entirety on the Swamp Witch bandcamp page. The official release date (for the physical versions) is February 20th, 2015.

Pretty sure you'd like the whole thing to be honest then. Didn't get any weak tracks from it.

I'll try!

Threw this in the shoutbox earlier so you might have seen it but might as well chuck it here for others. Didn't bother originally as it's only a single but I'm definitely looking forward to the full thing.

Reminds me of early AFoS, Ved Buens Ende and Primordial mixed in a really nice way.

It's pretty good actually. But I wonder who did the vocals here - is this a dude from AFOS or what? He sounds very much alike.

You could open an official thread for recommendation though, it would be helpful. I'd use it

I would too, and would be glad to open one except for the fact that I can't due to my current "status" of not having enough posts and such, haha.

I think the last time I listened to them they were a bad black metal version of Joy Division (as if Joy Division weren't bad enough already). That sounds much improved though.

Don't think I ever bothered with them since they have way too many releases for me to care, but that didn't sound bad at all.

Sounds more like Joy Division with some harsh vocals thrown in. No black metal aside from that at all. Pretty bad too if you ask me.

Rather nice low-end fuzz funeral sludge. Like the vocal mixing; has that great in-the-distance feel about them. Maybe a little simplistic overall, but nice sound nonetheless. Reminds of Burning Witch a tad.

Only a couple of songs from this. Sounds like it might turn out to be a somewhat psychedelic post-metal / drone thing. Definitely has my attention.

And, unf, stupidly sexy, unnerving sounding instrumental blackened doom. Parts heavy, other parts just plain creepy but also kind of melancholically epic. What a great sound. Probably my doom AotY at the moment.

Rather pleasant, unoppressive drone-cum-sludge. Elements of psychedelica, post-metal and general atmospherics that make it a thick, heavy but very listenable 40+ minutes. Nice to hear major chords and solos in something like this, in fact sometimes it even sounds like stoner drone as a result. Definitely has its more neutral moments though but reminds of Hyatari / later era Earth in nice ways.

New Vhol is sounding quite nice to me going by the two songs here. Punk-laden heavy / speed metal. Sounds a lot less gritty than the debut but I can't say I mind.

A local-ish band that I just noticed have been featured on No Clean Singing. Saw them live 6 months ago or so and thought they were pretty boss, partially because they all wore plague masks. I recall them sounding a bit more ominous and modern live, but their new album sounds pretty solid nonetheless. Only two tracks up so far from what I can see. Fast, intense, but not unmelodic black metal (No Clean Singing calls them filthy, grim 'n' gritty which I totally disagree with on every count). Pretty good I think, if not my usual sort of thing. Will defo check out the full album when they get it up on Bandcamp.

Don't really know where to begin putting a genre to this, but it sounds absolutely magnificent. Not sure it even belongs in the metal thread to be honest. This is the band that Pinkish Black came from, and this album was to be their final release some years ago but never saw a proper release. As the bandcamp page says, this is a journey "...from doom metal and industrial to post-punk and no-wave." Sounds about right to me.

This is right up there for AotY contender.

I got some massive Swans vibes at some points. This thing is really fucking textured, and certainly a varied experience. Great rec

Fortunately it's not overbearing but rather a nice touch of familiarity in an otherwise completely unique experience

It's definitely more my kind of thing than Swans is. I've still not properly enveloped myself in them yet. The Great Tyrant were probably a bit more approachable than a lot of Swans stuff really, though definitely cut from the same cloth and still a challenge.

Glad you / others are liking it. I might re-look at Pinkish Black. I recall them being fairly good (albeit a little different from this).

Never listened to them, though I definitely will now. Do you remember whether they are more or less spacey than this? It is an important factor for me to prioritize what to listen to next.

I actually can't remember specifically, but I would say less spacey. If it were more like this I would have made a point of listening to them more.

New track from Yellow Eyes. Only one so far. I think it's safe to say this album is going to deliver, and then some (more delivery...)

Heavier, more abrasive than usual atmos-sludge. Instrumental, really good I think, and lovely artwork. They know how to layer stuff up, almost to the point of noise at points.

A local-ish mathy grindcore band that I've seen too many times to count. They're always quite insane live and it's nice to hear some of that mental energy transfers over to records. They only have one track up though.

Cold, mechanical, even industrialised quasi-avant-garde black metal. Has those DsO influences that everyone else has but feels a little different overall. Not bad.

My God though, lay off the Latin a bit, guys.

Can't be arsed to go over to the non-metal thread so dumping this here. Really fun progressive electronic / space rock stuff. Sounds like all that synthwave stuff coming out recently but 10x the quality and with added groove and bass.

More Deathspell CloneMega stuff. Only one track but it's hard to dispute the ferocious quality of it; it's a pretty damn massive track and possibly the most authentic sounding track from a band that isn't DsO I've heard. I reckon you could fool most DsO fans into thinking it was a new track from DsO themselves. The last minute and a half is especially nice.

Just Deathspell CloneMega and Robglin...

I can understand the Latin thing. I'd like to properly look into it. I think I overdid it a bit on my degree show work title earlier this year... :laughs:

I wonder if all the Latin is correct. I heard bands tend to get it wrong quite often. I'll defer to you as to whether or not they got it right
