Rhapsody...one of the cheesiest bands ever, hmm...maybe one of the best...each and every one of their albums contains epic choral arrangements, soaring vocals, mindblowing instrumentation, and of course, the quality that defines the band...the orchestra...unlike some bands, who have an orchestra just to hide the horrid quality of their music, Rhapsody uses it in a way to make you want to slay orcs and dragons, lol...yes I know...nowadays, the method of combining orchestras and choruses to power metal is almost standard...however, Rhapsody was one of the first to use it, and use it to its full potential...anyways, the orchestra rocks...makes it more epic...Rhapsody has been one of the biggest and most influential epic metal bands ever...climactic, epic songs full of adventure...and now, actor Christopher Lee (who plays Saruman in the Lord of the Rings movies) does most of the narrations for their albums...I find it really captivating, and exciting (and cheesy)...much neoclassical stylings on the guitar, and some absolutely crushing lines...of course, most of the songs go at 100 miles per hour, with doublebass and palm muted chords apounding, and the synths laying down a barrage of notes...as usual...however, they do have some great ballads...it doesnt matter...highly recommended (at least by me)...Rhapsody is one of the most unique bands of the power metal scene...so...welcome brother, to the world of power metal...a dangerous land filled with dragons, steel, magic, orcs, demons, wizards, and lots of cheese...power metal has some of the highest levels of cheese in any sort of music, but anyways...I think its great...and you should also check Luca Turilli's side project.

Fabio Lione (vocals)
Luca Turilli (guitar)
Alex Staropoli (keyboards)
Patrice Guers (bass)
Alex Holzwarth (drums)

I like them. Symphony of the Enchanted lands would be my favorite album from them. Their videos can be pretty funny though. The new name still feels kind of weird.

I got Symphony of Enchanted Lands II and Triumph Or Agony recently and I liked both, though I need to listen to them better.
I think that the band has changed since their first album, but the main essence, the epic, still remains

Their videos are funny but for the lack of money they invest in them. Those videos suck! I personally like more Dawn Of Victory. And abput the new name, I'l still call them Rhapsody. Whatever.

I got "Triumph Or Agony" recently and I must say I liked it more that SOEL II. SOEL II lacks of something, while TOA recovers that stranght and cheese that characterizes them.

yes, the same goes with immortal videos, it is all because of the low budget they have for making them.

Great band indeed!
The new album is fantastic, a real masterpiece!
I'm italian, if you people want an english translation of the "Italian-language" Rhapsody songs (Lamento Eroico, Guardiani Del Destino, Il Canto Del Vento...) I can do it for you...

The music they made up until their recent album was brilliant, although the vocals are a deterrence in that they hardly change from what I've noticed, although other people may beg to differ on that other than some people who I've asked, that seem to agree there...

Has any one watched video clip Power of dragonflame, its quality kind of video is not same as movie making as usual, so that it sounds very funny. The video Unholy warcry quality style is better, but it loads so long in youtube

Ive had the new album Triumph Or Agony for about 2 weeks now, listened several times, ive come to the conclusion its easily their weakest effort. A lot of their albums have recycled parts in them, but usually a few things are different still, but this is pure recycled, Rhapsody need to move on, put a bit more versatility in their albums, the songs are all sounding the same now, especially on the two latest albums, thought SOEL2 had some great songs on it.
I still love the band, but ffs, how much of the same can they release?

The new name is hilarious! And stupid!
And the new album has great choir and sympho parts but desperate guitars

Agreed - the guitar parts seem much less important on the new material, which disappoints me a bit.

They have changed the approach to their music...
Epic and symphonic components now prevail on the power-metal and guitar-oriented style... I like also this approach, it's more emotional and it all sounds very clear...
Have you listen to the 16-minutes "The Mystic Prophecy Of The Demonknight"? Simply amazing... Real actors interpreting the characters of the saga, a great Christopher Lee as teller vocalist... And then folk parts, thrilling parts, extreme vocals part... I repeat: simply amazing!

That's ok, but they left guitars all aside
It's actually very noticable that guitars sections are bad
It would be better without them!

I got recently "Symphony Of Enchanted Lands" and I really liked it. I think that this one may be the best album of the band, really epic songs, excellent concept, imo it sounds different from the new stuff

Yes, and the early stuff was bound to power metal strongly, the newer stuff is more epic and sumptuous...
There aren't "fast" songs in the last albums... in Power Of The Dragonflame there are very speed tracks! (anyway, it's all linked to the concept IMO... the last ones talk about the journey to/in Dar-Kunor, but Power of The Dragonflame and Dawn Of Victory are full of battles, so they are more furious!)

"Dawn Of Victory" and "Power Of The Dragonflame" are their best releases

....But though there might not be much 'fast' songs, the Guitar and Bass Lines still contain lots and lots of tremolo picking.

Power of the dragonflame is my favourite album too, I love all songs, powerful and very epic...
but the last album doesn't disappoint me, I like also their new approach, though I partially agree with Lorien and Hyvaarin, the guitar parts are not memorable...

I agree, this new album is better than the previous one... I love all of this new album, and the concept keeps on inspiring me, yes it's very good. The orchestra kicks, the melodies kick, only guitars are a bit...choked! but it doesn't matter very much to me...

I agree, SOEL II is a lowpoint... But they corrected it on Triumph Or Agony, thankfully. TOA is a masterpiece.

Yeah i agree......the song "Unholy Warcry" (from the previous album), well Luca Turilli really outdid himself, but i doubt he will ever write another song quite like that one, that's probably Rhapsody Of Fire's most memorable song.

The Mystic Prophecy Of The Demonknight is the most memorable song, every time I listen to it I enter into the Enchanted Lands, it gives me the creeps and excites me, it's amazing... A real masterpiece song, indeed

@cradle of bodom: maybe because "The Mystic Prophecy Of The Demonknight" is the longest song on there (16:26)

according to the rules of Power Metal, that is therefore the most 'epic' song on there too
