Wow, these guys suddenly got amazing. I swear they used to be a sludge outfit, but this is something quite different. Not sure how I would describe it. Some kind of varied, textured ambient with multiple uses of a variety of instruments to create some unique, minimalistically cinematic and sometimes creepy but ultimately very awesome soundscapes. AotY tier stuff.

Did anyone mention Death Grips yet? I'm too lazy to go back through the various pages of comments right now. But if no one did, yeah... listen to The Powers That B. Double album. The first half, Niggas On The Moon, is really electronic and could just be their most experimental release yet. The second half, Jenny Death, is really raw and shows off a lot of the group's punk influences. MC Ride is love. MC Ride is life.

Wow. That was indeed quite a mindfuck. Not sure if I love them yet, but they're pretty exceptional anyway! (and while the first part was more mindfucky than the rest, the rawer sound of the second one had more appeal to me - too much much electronic in the first one I guess)

You already had me at dark drone pop, but nice to get a reference. You're right, that was totally in the middle of my comfort zone. Really great song.

THIS I have to share. For me - the best musical discovery of this year: Erdh. Their debut Resilient was a wild cinemtatic/gothic/experimental/industrial metal bomb & the following EP Sideremesis, which came out a month ago, takes a wild shift into more dark electro/ambient waters. Pure brilliancy. To anyone who's into more experimental/cinematic/dark electronic tunes.

So Ben Prunty, the guy that did the FTL soundtrack (one of the best game soundtracks ever) has made an album of creepy, semi-industrial / electronic dark ambient. Unsurprisingly it's really good.

He's a pretty talented dude.

Every now and then you find a piece of music that could only be described as "unbelievably lovely." Ultra chilled, instrumental hip-hop with some mild glitchy feels. I really wish this was longer.
