*why this post is wrong = two different genders there can't be a "vs" in between, they are gods in what they do/play best...and without them we would be listening to glam metal till today. next time try maiden vs priest.

they might not be the same genre but that doesnt keep them from having their simialarities, and as long as they have something in common, like for example "are world wide recognized as 2 of the more important, influential, famous and outstanding bands in the history of Music, more specific Metal" they can be put together in a poll, seems valid to me

Metallica. I've been a fan for ages now, second band I got to (first was Guns n Roses in the golden early ninties). And besides, I only like The Best of The Beast by IM, I never really liked this band, I only know and listen to their most well known works. I love Metallica though, and I love thrash, so there you go.

Iron Maiden by FAR! I can count on Maiden to give me quality music, with metallica, I am a little skeptical. Don't get me wrong, I love Metallica. They brought us Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets, among other things. But Iron Maiden brought us Killers, The Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave, and Seventh Son all in a row! I think its hard to beat that track record.

I voted Iron Maiden all the way. Why?

They are staying true to their selves and their music...cant say the same about Metallica....MTV lovers as they are.

Also, For me, Iron Maiden has more influenced the bands i like, and through that, myself as a guitar player.

Metallica has some Great songs and they have done much for Heavy Metal in their own respect in the world...but i guess that was past-Metallica.

And Remember, Dimholt..... its not about who has the most fans and record sales in the world.....because that doenst tell anything really.....i mean britney spears has more records sold and more fans.


What really pisses me of (their own lame doing) is the fact that Metallica is stated nowdays next to bands like "Korn, Trivium, Slipknot" and shit like that....a big fat shame, really.

Also, I wouldn't be so sure about Britney having more fans... it's likely a few years ago, but now? Maiden is one of the Metal god.I don't think Metallica deserves the God title.Metallica was good many many years ago.Maiden' most of the songs are masterpiece. Are all the metallica songs masterpiece?--The answer is No.The are good songs of Metallica but all the songs aren't powerful enough to compete Iron Maiden's Songs.
Metallica is not supposed to be compared with the legendary Iron Maiden.
Why should the local nu-metal mainstreem band be compared with deferential bands.
Iron madien still holds the superb quality in their music although they're mainstreem.They are not completely mainstreem band although.Even The Old Historical Metallica cannot take place in Maiden's musical arena.

My last words--Don't compare metallica with Iron maiden.
One day someone makes a topic "Metallica Vs Judas Priest".How can metallica be compared with all the Metal Gods.Metallcia is good on their own field.But they can never take place to be compared with all the Metal Gods.

Umm..I doubt if you have any idea how popular Iron Maiden is in other parts of the world..But If you count those MTV kids/hot topic kids/fakes & posers then yeah Metallica is bigger & more popular.

And you certainly need some metal historical lessons if you consider Metallica to be more influential than Maiden. You should stop reading Kerrang or watching MTV.

No I didn't want to start anything (well, a good discussion maybe..). I just expected metal fans to be above the mainstream music fans who'd everything based on album charts and tv coverages. If you prefer Metallica that's your choice but at least give us a better argument than "Metallica have more fans".

You admit it yourself that you're in love with their past not their present. Most Metallica fans admit the same thing. Your loyalty amaze me. If I'd hated every Maiden album after 90s I'd have stopped being a fan a decade ago.

Yeah plus in their firsts albums Mustaine was with 'em and when he left the band wasn't the same and Meatllica's tabs are always the same through the hole song, Battery doesn't change that most of the compass, and the solos are short

Well, but if IM gets repetitive they still have those ass kicker lyrics so you don't feel it that much if you're focused in the whole song and not just the rythm and metallica's good albums are just the 3 firsts ones and the other ones have just a few song to choose while the other songs are monotone ansd never-changing furthermore every IM's cd is a master piece specially when Bruce Dickinson is on the vocals and those albums have good lyrics too stick up with

Iron Maiden is the best band in the world. They are gods of metal. You can't compare them with Metallica

Well I chose Metallica because they just can do everything right
if they wanna do feeling(sadness) example-Fade To Black
or to be agressive example- Harvester Of Sorrow
with amazing solos- the Unforgiven, one
and amazing riffs- Motorbreath

but Iron Maiden are very good too
but they almost allways arn't chaneging and the agression and feeling are missing to me

and in general my most favoraite bands by order are
Metallica
Iron Maiden

This is actually very simple choice. IM gets my vote. Because they are above-average at their worst, they didn't do stuff like St.Anger and above all else i just like them more.
