A great death band in my opinion. Great growls, and wow, that woman sounds so amazing!

I really miss the crazy solos from Burning Bridges but I wouldn't say they sound generic now, maybe Anthems of Rebellion, but not Doomsday Machine. The Amott bro's sounded a little more inpsired for that album.

Hmmmm, I feel the opposite. I think they sound more inspired on Anthems of Rebellion. Doomsday Machine was an overall inconsistent album, but only a couple songs were the fault.

Well, Wages of Sin (slightly) and Anthems of Rebellion was inconsistent also. I thought Anthems was one of their worst albums though. I can't stand the track We Will Rise and it annoyed me how wannabe mainstream that album was. They kept on slowing things down in the chorus and throwing in tired riffs in the slow parts. There are some good tracks on that album, but it's not my favorite.

I couldn't agree more! Anthems was a way better album than Doomsdaymachine!

@Pyroleprechaun - Why is it that when a band shows the slightest signs of going mainstream you people start to hate them? Do you really think that Silent Wars or Despicable Heroes were mainstream oriented songs?

I don't care if they're mainstream or not, I just hate it when a band changes their sound to appeal to a larger audience. It almost never works. The exception being Behemoth...

There are more than two songs on that album...

Despicable Heroes is brutal and one of the best songs on that album. I don't remember what Silent Wars sounds like because I have that album burned and don't know the names of all the songs.

I hope that I don't sound like I dislike that album. I really like it but there were some disappointing aspects to it.

Yeah this band rocks forever. Just saw one live video from them. It was awesome!! Their drummer Daniel is incredible drummer. One of the best drummers ever.
Anthems of Rebellion and Wages of Sins rocks!
I dont like older productions where man is on vocals. Angela is way too better

For me, AE have just a few good songs on each album. But I love most of Wages of Sin, I think was their best album. I saw them live a few years ago and this kid broke his leg right next to me because he climbed something and jumped about 25 feet into the crowd!

If anyone has a chance, listen to 'ENTER THE MACHINE' by Arch Enemy, then listen to 'NO MORE 2ND CHANCES' by Caliban. What do you notice? I couldn't believe it when I heard it.

Currently downloading the two samples.

Haha, yeah, sounds kinda similar. I prefer the Arch Enemy one though.

For me, Wages was their best. Ravenous, Snowbound, Lament Of A Mortal Soul.. and other good songs. That album is the best I've heard from them.

I don't know what you guys have against their new album...it's such a good album and it is consistant from beginning to end...I think it's them finally coming together and showing maturity as a band....an impressive release from them...the new album isn't that mainstream at all...I don't know where people are getting that from...

Arch Enemy : Live Apocalypse DVD E-Card Now Available :

Arch Enemy's new double disc DVD set, Live Apocalypse, is now available just in time for the group's return to North America on Gigantour this September. A new E-card is now available that features two videos taken from the DVD for the tracks 'Ravenous' and 'My Apocalypse', along with a new photo gallery. You can view the E-Card by clicking here.

Mike Amott (guitars) describes his thoughts on the DVD: "The Live Apocalypse DVD shaped up to be an ultra cool 2-disc affair, and I honestly couldn't be happier with it. The main show is from The Forum in London, UK (December '04), and we also have footage from Manchester, UK in December '05 (there are three songs from that show). There are tons of extras and special features, as there should be. The artwork was also handled by Niklas Sundin of Cabin Fever Media. Andy Sneap's audio mix (5.1 and stereo) is so heavy; it almost blew my speakers out! He really captured the live feel and power of the show; it's like you are right there in the audience. Brilliant! This DVD crushes some of my favorite metal DVDs from my own collection - and I have a sick collection."

I can't understand why some people don't like Angela's vocals, unless they don't like extreme metal. What's wrong with them? Are they too strong?

I like Angela's vocals, because its quite an unusual growl, quite phlegmy. And its the only scream I can do at this tender age...

This band is one of my favourite.
When M. Amott left the band, I thought they would change to worse. But it has been the same.
The band became like it is now since Angela went. I like better albums with Angela than olders'.

But each time I see them in Paris, I've the impression they don't have a perfect tracklist. And I leave the show frustrated...

Doomsday Machine is a really good album, but I feel they created the same music without surprises.

If Michael left, I think it highly unlikely that Arch Enemy would continue as a band. Or at least it wouldn't be as good, unless they got a new guitarist who could write and play as well as Michael does.

I've noticed in this thread twice now people have said that Arch Enemy hasn't changed for the worse yet...but Doomsday Machine was recorded with Chris so we really have yet to tell how they will be without him.
