I'll start by pasting my last message in the old thread:
I saw Behemoth, Kataklysm, Aborted and Lyfthrasyr on Sunday.
As I may write a report about this one, I won't say much. Just that Kataklysm, and above all Behemoth, were amazing. Really. Absolutely amazing. I've been blown away, even if it was the third time this year I was seeing Behemoth live (after the No Mercy fest and the Hellfest). But, as headliners, they are even better.
Ok, I'll just give you the setlists of the last two bands, for those who care
Setlist Kataklysm:
Like Angels (Weeping The Dark)
Let Them Burn
Ambassador Of Pain
The Resurrected
Crippled & Broken
Serenity In Fire
1999:6661:2000
Where The Enemy Sleeps...
Beyond Salvation
As I Slither
Face The Face Of War
Manipulator Of Souls
In Shadows And Dust
Setlist Behemoth:
Rome 64 C.E.
Slaying The Prophets Of Isa
Antichristian Phenomenon
Demigod
From The Pagan Vastlands
Prometherion
Conquer All
Christgrinding Avenue
Drum Solo
Slaves Shall Serve
As Above So Below
Summoning Of the Ancient Gods
Christians To The Lions
Decade Of Therion
Chant For Eschaton 2000
Encore:
I Got Erection (Turbonegro cover)
To reply to another post in the old thread, both bands played approximately 75 minutes.
Next to come is Enslaved and Keep Of Kalessin tomorrow

I saw Vision Divine! Was a great show! But that night something unbelievable happened after the concert... I meet the band in the street!!! Yeah, I was waiting for them there! haha with 2 friends! And some other fans... The band decided to get out to meet the fans, take pictures, sign autographs and speak with us! Simply awesome!

Arnhem metal meeting, but the only band I really saw was Cruachan, the bands before that i just watched them for 10 min and after Cruachan I found it boring and I went home right away. Cruachan was awesome tough and I scored a lot of cool albums

Last night I left in the middle of work to see Ghengis Tron, A Life Once Lost, and Dillinger Escape Plan. I thought I'd be able to see all three bands before I had to squirrel back to work but unfortanantly I had to miss seeing Dillinger for the fucking 7th time. However Ghegis Tron and A Life Once Lost both kicked some pretty serious ass. I was especially blown away by Ghengis Tron since I didn't think I could get into any band without a real drummer but they proved me wrong.

05.12.2007 - 16:33 Written by VPeter on 02.12.2007 at 07:32 Please tell me you didn't go there, saw Cruachan and left before Primordial, Unleashed, Hollenthon and stuff... Please tell me you didn't do that. Or I'll come all over to the fucking Netherlands and kick your butt so hard that your asshole will go out your mouth About me, I saw Unleashed, Marduk and Vreid yesterday. Vreid I didn't know at all, and they impressed me so much with their progressive viking metal à la Enslaved that I bought their last album right away. Afterwards, the surprise of the night was that Marduk played second. They were supposed to be headlining, which would have been normal since they're much more famous in France than Unleashed, but finally it Unleashed headlining. I waas pretty happy about that because I like Unleashed better, and their show was much superior to that of Marduk anyway. Marduk was fun, though their most brutal songs tended to be tedious after some time. But I saw some of the songs I absolutely wanted to (Baptism By Fire, Wolves and The Hangman Of Prague) and their setlist picked up at least one song per album, which was pretty cool. The last of the night were the viking death metallers of Unleashed. I wasn't expecting them to blast like this. They were absolutely fantastic, with Johnny Hedlund being a great frontamn, making the crowd sing along and all. They played a lot of old songs from Shadows In The Deep and Across The Open Sea as well as more recent ones. And they were fast and groovy as hell, with a great sound. Too bad there were like four or five skinheads in the pit though. These people disgust me. But neo nazis set aside, this was a great show. Tonight, Apocalyptica and Lacrimas Profundere are coming to town

Written by VPeter on 02.12.2007 at 07:32 also Arnhem Metal Meeting for me. Left after Cruachan already? my god you missed three of this year's best concerts: Asphyx, Primordial, Hollenthon. Okay of the following: Sodom: as expected for me boring, lame, and shitty. Asphyx: brilliant Hollenthon: brilliant although the orchestration was canned Marduk: boring as usual, gets way too monotonous too quickly, on album I quite like them but not live Unleashed: very good and entertaining God Dethroned: must have been the first time since their demo days I've seen, so about 16 years later, they pleasantly surprised me Primordial: just a couple of words, amazingly fucking brilliant Holy Moses: what the hell happened to them? I used to like them but now they were boring. Onyl good thing was that Sabina's vocals are still way better than overrated Angela Gossow's Nifelheim: didn't see them, had to catch train home Cruachan: didn't see them cause they played at the same time as Obsidian and I have never liked Cruachan at all (as with 99% of the so-called folk metal scene) Haemorrhage: didn't see them cause Hollenthon were playing Vreid: didn't see them cause Asphyx were playing Cypher: only saw the last two songs of their set cause the queue getting into the venu was enormous. Severe Torture: very good professional show and musically not as brutal as I expected Panchrysia: standard black metal from Belgium, so left half way through Obsidian: technically probably THE best band of the day. Shame they played in front of a small crowd on the tiniest stage of the day. Very good perfromance especially by vocalist Robbe K.

yes I did mine Arnhem metal meeting day went like this: Cypher: missed them because I missed the train, there stuff didn't intresse me that much anyway Severe Torture: came in while they were half trough their set, but I don't care about there stuff just an other boring Death metal. God Dethroned: sounds cool, but it started to get boring and I left 10 min later to look at shirts and CD's again. Holy Moses: saw them more or less, sounded cool but I started to look at CD's and shirts again and then after I watched them again for a small time Unleashed: watched them a bit and they played good but left to get a good at Cruachan Cruachan: briliant show and looking at the crowd they taught so to. Primordial: I really don't like this boring lame band, why do people tag it Celtic folk black metal? while it's just black metal with acoustic parts. I still watched them(for a really small part) to see if they are better live, nope they are just as bad and boring live as they are on CD. then I left home, purely because the other bands didn't really do me much, except for Hollenthon but I didn't feel like waiting and wasn't really in the mood for it. Marduk, Sodom, Asphyx, Vreid are bands I like for a song or 3 but starts to get boring if I am not in the mood for it ad I wan't in the mood for it at all.

Primordial a boring lame band. Ok, first train to the Netherlands, and you'll be dead by tonight lol. Anywho, I saw Apocalyptica yesterday. Supported by Lacrimas Profundere, which was ok but I only like their stuff up to the Burning: A Wish album, and they didn't play anything from before Fall, I Will Follow. So, ok, "One Hope's Evening" was cool, but the rest didn't really do it for me. And hey, what is it with all these goth bands looking like Tokio Hotel now? But anyway, I totally forgot about the opening set after Apocalyptica. This was my first time with them, I'm not a big fan of their music or anything, but they absolutely, wonderfully kick my ass. Big time. I've been constantly blown away during one hour and a half. That was amazing. As I had a press accreditation, there will be a report coming with pictures, hopefully, if my camera doesn't screw me again. EDIT: Report of the concert

My last concert was the Death by Decibels tour. Vader Malevolent Creation Cattle Decapitation Light This City Abigail Williams Veil of Maya. Didn't catch Veil of Maya, and Light This City was terrible. Abigail Williams was surprisingly good. Vader was good, although kind of boring. I went for Cattle, and they were my favorite of the night. Malevolent Creation was fantastic, too.

@Tir na og: Primordial lame and boring? That's what I also thought when I saw them for the first time. The second time I saw them though was the most intense show I ever got to experience! But if you don't like them on CD either, I guess it's just a matter of taste and not a matter of whether you catch them on a good day in a good venue like it was in my case. @Collin: Apocalyptica are absolutely awesome live indeed! Have only seen them once as well, but it absolutely sent shivers down my spine! It was at Wacken two years ago, it was night already when they played their show and it was sooo divine, half of the songs being Metallica material, the other half own songs. The crystal-clear night, the slight chill of a summer night, everything contributed to a perfect show! @mankvill: Have seen Vader at a festival earlier this year. With a backline filling the entire stage and two guitarists they didn't manage to sound as heavy as your above average death metal band in the afternoon with only one guitar and the basic backline. And of they did get boring after a while indeed. The other headliner Misery Index weren't much better though. @thread: Have been to Deadsoul Tribe and The Old Dead Tree yesterday. I was nearly looking forward more to TODT as their new album appeals more to me than DST's, and I haven't kept up to date with DST's material since The January Tree. TODT pulled off a great show even though their singer Manuel was said to be ill. The set could have been a more straightforward in my opinion, but what do you expect when they support a prog act? Talking about said prog act, DST were great as well. They had technical difficulties after their first song already and their roadie was constantly fixing something on stage. Their sound was perfect though, the acoustic of the venue is awesome anyway, and especially "Some Things You Can't Return" is live absolutely awesome! Didn't quite know most of the songs, but I was very happy with the huge portion of stuff they played from A Murder of Crows. Mr Graves could have played the flute a bit more often though - I didn't expect him to do "The Gossamer Strand", but it was sad that he restricted its usage only to the intro/outro of two or three songs.

I went to see Calvin Russell yesterday. He's 60 years old, looks 80, but damn, does the man rock! Almost two hours of great country, blues and rock'n'roll, for one of the best shows of the year. I don't know why, but for me it's almost always the non metal shows that rock the most. It was simply brilliant.

Nightwish and Indica. Was okay but I really dislike Anette. Marcco's energy saved the evening. The best was that since we didn't had any expectations for the night we came really late. Right before they opened the venue. I've never seen such a long fucking queue. We must've been the last in line. We couldn't even see the venue from there! So when we finally come in we stand in the middle of the audience. There's two fences as usual, one in front of the stage and one behind the ones at the front. But my friend says "look Jacob... can you go there?". I look at the second fence... and WTF? You can just go past it and suddenly you're right in front of the stage! There are guards there and after a while they don't let more people in. So I came to the venue when it opened, stood last in line (3500 fans) but ended up in the front of the stage! And didn't fight my way to it either!

Two days ago I've been to Six Feet Under, Nile, Finntroll, Belphegor and local openers Hyems. Hyems were kinda cute, they were totally nervous in front of the sold-out venue, playing their Belphegor-style black/death metal. Belphegor were okay, but not really mind-blowing. Finntroll were okay, but it kinda sucked moshing to them, dunno why. Nile sucked. Period. And save for the "Maximum Violence" album I've never been too fond of Six Feet Under either. What shall I say? SFU totally tore the place apart and made clear that seeing them certainly is worth those 30 bucks after the previous four bands didn't convince at all! I kinda felt as if a tank had run over me after the gig - I also looked like it after noticing all my bruises Just came home from Ensiferum, Chthonic and Insania. If I find the time, I'll write an article about it. If not (which is very likely), I shall return to this thread. Just so much: Ensiferum's setlist was fucking killer and if it wasn't for "Lai Lai Hei", "Slayer of Light" and "Raised by the Sword" (the only "Victory Songs" song they didn't play!) missing it would definitely have been perfect!

Haha, I had tickets for Carmen (yes, the opera thing) yesterday. It was not in an opera but in a very big venue (the place where I saw Tool and where I'll see Nightwish). That was really great. I utterly dislike listening to operas on my own, but seeing one is really a brilliant experience. I enjoyed it even though I didn't understand a word they said - basically, Carmen is written in French, but with the awful accent of these Polish, Italian, Spanish and whatever else singers, it didn't sound like French. Anyway, it was really an awesome show Therion tonight btw. Can't wait to see them perform the whole Theli album

On Wednesday I then attended Therion's 20th Anniversary show. Itw as simply awesome, the best show of Therion I've seen so far, and one of the best ever for me. I could write pages about it, because each minute was amazing, but I'll keep it short: 3 hours of an intense show, full of emotion, with great vocalists (Thomas Wikström was fantastic, that's for Warman ), awesome lights, a blasting sound and the definitive setlist - besides the playing of the whole Theli album. There were no special guests or anything and they didn't play the Mercyful Fate ciover, "Black Funeral", but it didn't really matter in the end. The Vision Bleak opened for Therion, and they were pretty cool, too. KUTULU! FHTAGHN! Oh, yeah, the setlists Setlist The Vision Bleak: The Demon Of The Mire Carpathia The Grand Devilry Kutulu! Well, on December 7th I attended the WASP's Crimson Idol Tour in Madrid. Obviously, they played the whole Crimson Idol album and it was so damn moving... they also played a movie (while they were playing) based on the album that they never released. Really, I have no words. After playing those 10 songs there was a 10 minutes break and then the atmosphere changed to a really cheered up mood when they played L.O.V.E. Machine, Wildchild, Take Me Up (from their new album), I Wanna Be Somebody and Blind In Texas. If you still have the opportunity to go, I highly recommend it!

Mortification - Well the fans sucked, there was almost no head-banging, no moshing (well ok i don't like moshing anyway), just nothing! But Moritification fucking blew me away! It was fantastic to hear songs that were written when I was only 2 years old! Unleashed & Marduk - Well Marduk sucked, of course, what can you expect when you have blast beats over blast beats with nothing else to it? But it was good to headbang. Anyway, Unleashed was brilliant! It was kinda funny with all these viking stuff which is unusual for death metal, but it was fun. I was lucky enough to get a picture of me with Johnny Hedlund after the gig and I must say he's a very nice guy. MASSACRE + Supports - This was the fucking highlight of the past year and also in some kinda way of my life! Massacre life, who would have thought?! First there was a support band from france where I forgot the name, but then the second band was "Suicidal Angels" from greece. First I thought it's some gothic metal or something, but then I see these 4 guys in black with the chains and all hitting it like in 1987, pure old school thrash metal! It was fantastic! But it got even better when MASSACRE entered the stage! Fucking, BRAAa!!!!! Songs written in 1987 and even "Legion of Doom", the first Death song on the first Death Demotape. It was fucking brilliant, I will never forget this show, and of course I will not forget Master's Paul Speckman and Kam Lee! I was lucky enough to take pictures with. Lez Zeppelin - An all-female cover band, best non-metal show I saw in the last 3-4 years! I can't wait for this year.. Obituary, Vader, Napalm Death, Suffocation, Dismember, Onslaught, Trouble, Overkill, Immolation, At The Gates & Carcass. Holy fucking shit.
