Wow, your not wrong this is utter carnage!
It's taking some time to sink in though.

This really is an incredible ferocious performance, it has an interesting blend of tech death, and symphonic deathcore, and I'm also picking up influences of Anaal Nathrakh, Archspire and Cattle Decapitation.

Going to be hard for anyone to top this and 2024 just started. This is one of the most insane albums I've heard in a good while. It's so aggressive while still being so melodic and atmospheric.

"The Isolating Lie Of Learning Another" and "Survival's Careening Inertia" are my favorites.

Spun this record 5 times already. Absolutely killer stuff. A wall of noise born from hate and ferocity but somehow still has melodies you can grab onto. The album never hits the breaks except for track 5, an instrumental that starts off more atmospheric and develops into a brutal riff fest. Being placed in the middle of the album, this works perfectly. Vitriol build on everything from their debut here and tidy up the mix resulting in 47 minutes of oh so glorious death metal. If i'm honest, it would likely be my AOTY if it came out last year. Excited to see if any albums can top it in 2024.

It's been a long time since I was this impressed by a death metal album. Everything from the ferocious drumming, the blistering guitar riffs, the superb growls and the crushing bass is a total onslaught on the senses. I can only imagine these guys live

It took a little time to sink in, but after three listens it had really opened up to me. This is a visceral, brutal, technical and at times semi melodic assault to your ears! And I really like it. The dragging main riff of “The Isolating of Learning Another” gets me everytime.
Plus I don’t usually dig Long instrumentals, but “Survival’s Careening Inertia” is a highlight for me, which is pretty unusual. Great album!


Top Releases of 2024

DAMN this is destructive. Probably should be classified as a lethal weapon with how heavy it is. Sounds very much like Anaal Nathrakh gone death metal with a deathcore energy.

Definitely reminiscent of Anaal Nathrakh. Love the chaotic riffing, but not stoked on the sterile production and drum sound. It would not surprise me if these studio drums are software.

Still on the fence if I really like it - will need more listens for sure. So far it feels that they are going 150% almost all the time, and it can feel overwhelming a bit - like, 120% would have been fine, idk? (and I love Anaal Nathrakh and similar bands). Many albums are often compared that they 'sound like Hell', not gonna lie, this is one of first that I can too say that it does sound like that - hellish, vile, unbelievably intense, evil, diabolical etc. Pure chaos.

The genre description doesn't do this justice. This is some top-level extreme metal stuff.
Fast, technical and chaotic. It actually sounds exhausting at times but in a good way 🤣

Relentless, honest stuff, that alone always buy some sympathy. If you want to experience some intensity, that's something you might like. But thanks to monumental production and always blasting instruments, it's quite hard to swim through and pick every detail and nuance. Time will tell.

There's a lot here. It's a high-end tech death record for sure, leaving you feeling bloodied and pummelled in its wake. The modern, pristine production is a disservice to this record, though. The "always maxed out" snares (yeah, there are two distinct snares being used all over this record, with some grandoise flair!) get a bit tiring after a while. Worth checking out if you love death metal.

Why is this labelled as "Death Metal" ? Please fuckin' slap Technical (or Brutal, whatever Idc) before that... This is misleading for your average and innocent OSDM passerby.

Also Broken Hope as well. Finally, gave a good runtime to new Vitriol. What I more impressed here is execution of "variations" that have incredibly defined the memorable moments from this album like switch over from 'The Isolating Lie Of Learning Another" to "Survival's Careening Inertia". Initially started slaughtering with brutal riffs then slowing down in midsections to incinerating at the end. I know it's part of the pattern of "tech death metal", but I like the way variations have played among the notes - it's amazing.

It will make it into MSAs.

But then every black/death metal band creating suffocating chaotic soundscape that resonates on a visceral level can be easy comparison here. Why Akhlys, then?
