It was hinted At The Edge Of Time. A new symphonic focus and refinement that would bring Blind Guardian's sound fully into modern times. Production has never been as important in showcasing yet another distinctive album experience in their pioneering style of power metal. What lies beyond is assurance as much as surprise.

I don't get why this album is rated so low on MS .. The production is really good, the orchestral parts morph perfectly into the metal, most songs are catchy as hell, tempi are diverse, .. this is a sincere contender for best BG album for me

The mix seems so muddy to me. They wanted it dense I guess but this is not how you make it happen. The drums feel lifeless and the the other elements sound very crowded masking out a lot, with too little excitement going on. The vocals and the guitars seem fine, at least. I kinda wish they would remix it.

The only Blind Guardian album that I don't enjoy which I find unfortunate. I can never pinpoint what exactly turns me off in this one, it's probably the really shitty production which causes me to not hear the orchestra well (which is you know what makes this album unique), and the drums. But there's also something beyond that. I am not a fan of its generic lyrics, I know the story is on the unique side but lyrics themselves are fairly bland imo, and songs are average for BG. Which is a shame because there is obvious effort in deep songwriting, sometimes I feel I am not getting the album. Somethings just don't cut it for you I guess.

The only song I really love here is the bonus track Doom. The Throne is good but it is again brought down by muffled production.
