Rhapsody...one of the cheesiest bands ever, hmm...maybe one of the best...each and every one of their albums contains epic choral arrangements, soaring vocals, mindblowing instrumentation, and of course, the quality that defines the band...the orchestra...unlike some bands, who have an orchestra just to hide the horrid quality of their music, Rhapsody uses it in a way to make you want to slay orcs and dragons, lol...yes I know...nowadays, the method of combining orchestras and choruses to power metal is almost standard...however, Rhapsody was one of the first to use it, and use it to its full potential...anyways, the orchestra rocks...makes it more epic...Rhapsody has been one of the biggest and most influential epic metal bands ever...climactic, epic songs full of adventure...and now, actor Christopher Lee (who plays Saruman in the Lord of the Rings movies) does most of the narrations for their albums...I find it really captivating, and exciting (and cheesy)...much neoclassical stylings on the guitar, and some absolutely crushing lines...of course, most of the songs go at 100 miles per hour, with doublebass and palm muted chords apounding, and the synths laying down a barrage of notes...as usual...however, they do have some great ballads...it doesnt matter...highly recommended (at least by me)...Rhapsody is one of the most unique bands of the power metal scene...so...welcome brother, to the world of power metal...a dangerous land filled with dragons, steel, magic, orcs, demons, wizards, and lots of cheese...power metal has some of the highest levels of cheese in any sort of music, but anyways...I think its great...and you should also check Luca Turilli's side project.

Just bought the 'Live In Canada 2005' limited edition today...it was so wierd: it was actually cheaper than the ordinary CD! It was about 13 Euros and the normal was 23 Euros! Well it's a nice album...eventhough the live recordings aren't the best. But f... that as long as the music is great

They are awful alive, at least to me. I heard their live albums and I thought maybe they are better when you are actually there, but then I visit Rhapsody gig and after the show I went home deeply dissapointed, I heard nothing, guitars were to weak and keys to loud, voice was very irritated and drums were like some empty boxes with little water inside, awful... I will never go to see them alive again. I never heard that live you are (GT) talking about, maybe it is better than others but I heard enough..

@Aronax: on the bonus DVD with the CD there were some previews of a live DVD they were surpose to release...and the sound on those were absolutly perfect, so I'm looking forward to that release

Well, I will try to catch that release, I don't say that it is impossible for Rhapsody 'of fire' to sound good alive, I mean they are good musician, but I am sure in one thing, I will never go to see them alive... Especially after they change name...

Last album I obtained was Symphony Of Enchanted Lands Part II, I think. The one with Christopher Lee's vocals, and I wasn't impressed, I mean it is good but, except Lee's amazing vocals, nothing new. But I suppose there is some new release and that you already have this album.

Well, all their more dinamic stuff sonds great, and ballads, well I dont like them. Maybe I'd like them more if i spent more time on lyrics, but music is more important to me.... And i never saw them live, so I canot say anything about that.

Symphony Of Enchanted Lands Wizard's Last Rhymes Gargoyles, Angels Of Darkness especialy these and much more songs from them are ranked very high in my personal "best of" unfortunately their more recent albums from Dark Secret Saga arent so good as Emerald Sword...but songs like The Myth Of Holy Sword securing it eventhough :-)

They are great, they were one of my "gateway" metal bands, and the interest still hasn't rubbed off yet The name has "disorientated" me a bit too, but oh well, my fave albums are the first Symphony of Enchanted Lands and Legendary Tales. To be fair Symphony of Enchanted Lands II comes up next, even though it's not too popular even among the fanbase I think theres still some fantastic songs on there (Never Forgotten Heroes, Nightfall on the Grey Mountains etc) and it's just one of those albums I can put on any time for fun listening (akin to Freedom Calls stuff, to me anyway...)

I refuse to call them 'Rhapsody of Fire', not only because it's a fucking ridiculous title, but because every single bit of material of theirs that I like was made while they were still Rhapsody.
