cause the thing that metallica did to the world of metal is incredible. we r here talkin about metal not hip hop yeah? so if u can name a band in metal that sold 70 million. even at festivals which a lot of ppl r there,

Don't go in the "not for money" zone cause they are so for the money. Being a fan makes you a bit blind.
I am not trying to underapreciate metallica, they were good, but now they're pretty lame. All the concerts they have raise so many people for who they were not for who they are. This year they are comming in romania too, in the summer and almost all the tickets have already been sold, even some of my friends give me that "I want to see them once in a lifetime" line...
This thread is not discussing the importance of metallica which is unquestionable, it is a thread discussing which one is better Iron Maiden or Metallica. For me it's Maiden, for you it's metallica, we both have our own reasons to be fans... but I think the thread is more into the objective part of the battle not in the who loves the bands more...

i have to say that im a metallica fan but i know that they r not as good as they were.but it doesnt mean that metallica is bad or good.and here we r not talkin about that metallica is good or maiden the question is about who is metallica's or maiden fan? but i think its a really funny question. so what? maiden is the beginner of NWBHM and tallica is beginner of speed thrash metal. i wanted to choose both of them cause they r not equal things to compare. u cant compare an apple with an orange even they r fruits. and no one cans say apple is better cause orange is sour ! so i dont know why they knew it when they locked the "Black Sabbath Vs Maiden" i think cause they didnt like to see black sabbath have more fans yeah? so its unjustly.
but if i was the staff i would lock this one too,not to open the other one !

i vote for metallica because it's my best bend and iron maiden is also good but they are not like metallica

The latest Maiden release sucks, in my opinion. However, Maiden's past efforts are music for the Gods.

I would vote for Maiden, though -- only because it took them longer to go to shit than Metallica.

Maiden are one of the greatest bands of all time and although metallica are alright they could never reach the standard set by Maiden.

poll says it all...twice as many people think Maiden is better.

Maiden is BETTER (Gestalt wise and, at least nowadays, in terms of the technical nature of their music) than Metallica.

but in their hey day, Metallica was definitely more aggressive/faster. "Ride the Lightning" is still really fast to me...

but nowadays, Maiden wins. Hands Down.

Metallica will be below Iron Maiden in any given ranking. The otherwise would be pure crap.
Besides they don't even deserve to be compared with I.M. after having turned nu.. So rare that you get something "unmaterialized" out of USA.

maiden is the beginner of NWBHM - Dude! get you history right! 1st came black sabbath, then Judas priest and motorhead and finally maiden. the genre was officailly started with black sabbath, though some agrgue for bands like iron butterfly etc.

btw way ill ahve to say iron maiden. even though i belive both of these bands to be overated and boring at least maiden are still doing it properly, and you cant beat 'holy smoke' or 'bring your duaghter to the sluater' every now and again.

You can't object to this because it's a fact that musicians are rather focused on finance than art. Take a look at Metallica. Everyone is giving into conformism and it effects us, the fans.

@Valmont, that last post of your is just utter bullshit. As if there aren't bands in Europe who are like Metallica. And fyi Metallica only started being the commercial powerhouse they are now when they did Metallica - Metallica.
Btw the record industry is corrupt everywhere in the world. Just to beat you to it... Roadrunner Records is NOT an American label it is Dutch label.


And it is bleedingly easy to find American bands (just like bands from other countries) who are more concerned with their art than their album sales. 99.9% of metal artists anywhere in the world (yes that does include America) are first and foremost focused on their art than on the finances.

Alright I'll admit we haven't really done a lot of good in the world in the last few decades...

...I thought the international community was still giving us a free pass for getting rid of the Nazis...

...but that's irrelevant in a metal thread because outside of the tv and radio friendly stuff we're just as true in the States as anywhere else!

Maiden all the way, they've composed themselves better in their music & their lives. And although they both somewhat whored themselves off I still can't stand St.Anger while I find A Matter Of Life & Death to be average.

ah both are just sooo good. Iron maiden though takes the cake for me!

i prefer Metallica for their Lyrics and James' Vocals.

I don't like IM at all, it's very boring for my tastes.

I only like some songs from Metallica [because I don't find them interesting anyway]... But I vote for them because some songs are really good for me.

Musically-speaking, Metallica threaded more unknown grounds than any other metal bands. The first five albums: Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lighting, Master of Puppets, ...And Justice For All, Metallica (Black album) broke all metal barriers and smashed every mutha's skulls to bits! And their timing was phenomenal. They did it when metal was enjoying its finest momemnts in rock 'n roll history. thus explains the mega-zillion sales. With that said however I would admit preceeding albums sucks, by Metallica and metal standards in general. Here's hoping the next album after St Anger would be really devastatingly kick ass. As for Iron Maiden, they've been here forever and for that we hail them! Musically though in terms of really great albums, they made just a handful as compared to Metallica. But they've been making equally "good" albums consistently. So my verdict, fuckin support both bands! Why? Cause they're metal! And they're good!:banger:
