Dissection is/was and amazing band. Storm of the Lights Bane is one of my favorite albums. No matter how many times I listen to it, it never seems to get old or boring.

This band and Jon Nödtveidt means so much for me (everything before jail and Reinkaos of course). I've just bought a big patch to the back of my denim jacket:


My best friend consider Reinkaos to be the best album ever, I consider it to be average. I always mock him for that.

Well, Reinkaos just provved that Nodtveidt indeed could make music on its own, but without Zwetsloot... Its not the same. Its not Dissection. His part in songwiting was too huge to not be missed on Reinkaos...

I agree, this guy knows music I don't like much black metal, really, and "The Somberlain" is a very blackened album, but when I listened "Storm of the Light's Bane" I enjoyed a lot Dissection's music. "Reinkaos" is a good album but I think it's a step down

I just listen to Storm of the Lights Bane all the way through around 11:00 tonight. Oh yes! How haunting. When i heard the first minute of Thorns of Crimson Death.....i felt chills. All alone in the night, total darkness, and Thorns of Crimson Death. Holy Shit. And then the frightening acoustic part in Soulreaper about mid-way through with that nasty drum fill, almost too much. I miss Jon, R.I.P.

Im writing a paper about black metal in Norway and Sweden. I need to know if Jon had any connection to the right wing or the NSBM scene whatsoever. As far as I remember, the guy he murdered was Algerian, but that does not indicate he was a racist or white supremacist. Any links etc. are more than welcome. May they both rest in peace.

I heard that he was Algerian homosexual, i think that's why he killed him, am not sure though.

Yeah I think it had to do with the guy coming on to Jon. But he did come on to him in park which was apparently renowned as a meeting place for homosexuals. Or was it Faust that killed a homosexul? Damn, now I am doubting who did what

OKay just checked. Both Faust's and Jon's victims were homsexuals.

Technically, Nödtveidt was an accomplice in the murder, he didn't kill the guy himself.

Yeah "deathened" makes my everything cry. Has black vocals, production and general atmosphere but melodeath riffs and general structure.

I'm pretty sure we've had this dance before though.
