Metallica and Iron Maiden are world wide recognized as 2 of the more important, influential, famous and outstanding bands in the history of Music, more specific Metal, so which of these 2 godlike bands you like the most?
Personally I prefer Iron Maiden because they were the ones that started the whole movement, though Metallica gave it the strenght to amaze the whole world, but you know Maiden is Maiden and they have really become legends.

I can't understand people hating Metallica, especially OLD (that is first THREE albums) Metallica, and also Maiden... because without those two metal wouldn't be where it is today.

the first three also sucked in my opinion. I don't hate maiden eventough I find them highly overated.
yes I know they influenced a lot of bands, but that doesn't mean that I must like them just because they are "metalgods".
I am probally of the few here who doesn't have a huge crush on 80ties metal, sorry but it is just I don't like many of them.

Iron Maiden! I mean, i love Metallica but Maiden are just the best metal band ever! And yes Metallica sucked after the Black Album. I mean, they sold out worse than Bon Jovi! Also, Iron Maiden are better musicians. Song after song the shredding guitar incredible lyrics and awesome vocals it's soooooooooo sick. Metallica are very different. They're darker, more underground and a bit repetitive. James Hetfield isn't the greatest singer, Nicko McBrain is a better drummer and Iron maiden has three guitarists. Right now I'm listening to Metallica "Creeping Death" and enjoying it! I think Metallica was very influenced by Steve Harris and Iron maiden's songwriting in this song. You know like from the bible. If i were to compare the two bands it would be

Singer-No contest...BRUCE!
Bassist-Metallica had some good bassists, but not legends like STEVE HARRIS
Guitarist-Already explained it, Hammett is great though
Drummer-Nicko
IRON MAIDEN WINS!

Its interesting to hear someone doesnt like Metallica's first albums and even hate them. Going back to the topic, I prefer listening to Metallica's thrash stuff rather than Maiden. Although I think Maiden has been the most consistent band and I really dont dare to say who is bigger. An interesting thing from where I'm from (Colombia) is that most parents and people that have no idea about Metal or Rock music, call it "Musica Metallica",then doing an easy translation to english haha they think Metallica is a genre! so thats funny and makes you think how big Metallica is.

Teens hate metallica the most! and i know why Marcel.

at those times when metallica rulled the world they were kids and didn hear them and when the grow older they've found out that everyone listenes to metallica, even a Britney Spears fan! and they hate metallica cause of those things. but i experienced that a lot of them (not all of them) after some years of listenin to metal, they will find that metallica rulez yeah! and the funny thing is that i had a friend that he hated metallica the most when he was 15, 16 and suddenly when he became 20 i saw that he is saying that "nowadays i dont listen to metal very much but i love metallica!!!". i know that it depends on ppl. but its my opinion in general.

heh I say it is a trend for teens to hype 80ties metal especially Judas priest, Metallica and Iron Maiden.
I say honestly that I don't like much 80ties metal, I like 70ties rock and Black Sabbath and early Judas Priest but not the 80ties Heavy metal.
I find the 90ties metal way better. I don't shy away from populair music, I like the Gorillaz. I just really hate Metallica, I find them the most shitiest metal band in the world.

To be fair about Metallica, they were one of the best heavy/thrash metal band in their 80's. but after 90's NO. and if you see that Metallica album is the best seller that's because of their fan expected a nice work same as before. but in fact they couldn't find it.
and something else, Metallica and Guns n' Roses were a bit unlucky, because in American Rock sense they should faced Nirvana and it's new genre, which followed by Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, Alice in Chains and other Grunge bands. and I think Nirvana is a better band that Metallica in 90's! and they just started to rant about Grunge, because they were hurt by it.

metallica is my favorite band. i love them. i like maiden some too. but when i listen to metal, i like to go fucking crazy and headbang like a mother fucker. with iron maiden, i cant do that. i can only bob my head to it honestly with an occasional strum on my right thigh. but with metallica, kill 'em all to the black album, mostly ...and justice, i fucking can go crazy. so metallicas music moves me more for they ARE a heavier band.

metallica started out good agree with u but give me a reason that Maiden was good in every album?
can u remember that when maiden brought "Blaze Balley", i remember that their fans were so sad and didnt liked the albums with him.
metallica wasnt good in every minutes of their songs! i am agree. but its really normal. but the nice thing with metallica is that they r somthin like Avant-Grade. they didnt use a rule for their albums. they wanted to be new in every album. maybe it was a fault, cause they would lose a lot of fans and take some new.

i think Sold-Out is a new commercial name! this is just for take down some bands, every human in the world wants money and a lot of money not a little. for example as i remember maiden have released 2 albums for a year for 2 times. this reminds me cheap Turkish popstars which were releasing 2 or 3 albums of a year!! at least metallia didnt do this one! so i dont know why they r called sold-out!!!
after cliff's death they released a music video! so thats why that metallica began to be a sold-out band.
ive bought St.Anger's album but i didnt pay nothin for the DVD inside! so why they r sold-out ? they didn made some animation music videos as maiden! their music videos didn show me that they r commercial.

plz take a look at METALLICA's "MAMA SAID" music video u can see that metallica was kiddin the media and commercial things. how can u all call them sold-out!! they wanted to be new, and if someone doesnt like them its normal. no musicians r the slaves of their fans. and i like metallica cause they r not "STOCK MIND" . Creative is the name of metallica, and yes No Nothin Else Matters.
and why other bands couldnt do it, cause none of them very lucky as metallica even Black Sabbath.
they sold a lot, but when a band sell a lot it doesnt mean that they r sold-out. when they r good they cant say that "plz dont buy our albums" or "hey u, u r not metal, so dont buy my album" PFFFFF.
i dont remember that metallica was like "Dimmu Borgir" Or "Cradle Of Filth", do u?

there is a thin line btw sold-out, and sell cause of nice songs. when i take a look at load and reload, i say they r not Metal as well. but they r really nice albums and no one can say that those albums r sell-out, its kiddin i think.

but the worst words about metallica that i ever heard is: "Black Album is a bad album", i respect anyone but i think that sentence will come out a shitty fool mind. take a look at music videos at that album. none of them smell smothin like sell-out.

if someone doesnt like metallica is not a sin!! but i dont know why someone has to say words against them. its not usefull, its tread in vain. so fuckin what? metallica's true metal fans have loyalty and none of these words will decrease buying albums of them.

for youngs its easier to listen to a heavy metal band than to listen to an Extreme metal band, thats why some cant take metallica at the very first time. especially their old albums. yes im agree that iron maiden with bruce dickinson is more teenage than metallica. i dont like to take maiden down. but IMO their lyrics rnt as deep as metallica's Tailgunner? i have heard a lot of things about this song. for example i heard that dickinson wrote it cause of a porn movie!!
their like fantasies if im wrong take a look at their music videos, but metallica is so deep, unforgiven, unforgiven II, King Nothing, Hero Of The Day, One.... plz compare them with Holy Smoke by maiden pfffff. u cant even compare whiskey in the jarr (metallica's meaningless music video) with holly smoke.
so i think its normal that maiden have more fans here.(old ones rnt a lot in the websites, cause of their work and usage of net, if they were all here u would see who have more).
but nice thing is that in Iran maiden have 1% true fans. but yes i know that anti-metallica persons shout out loud that they r maiden fans. but when i ask them that how many albums maiden released they will shut up. so? i know its like this in other counties too. cause maiden is not the band with a lot of true fans, their fans r just speaking.

Every Iron Maiden album sounds exactly the same.

well, not really, most of their albums might sound similar, but you can't really say that A Matter of Life And Death and Killers are similar.. AMOLAD is complex, Killers is simple punk metal.. and of course there are the stand-out albums like Somewhere In Time, Seventh Son, Brave New World..

Yes, you're right, that was my point, that their albums are very simmilar. I was exagerating a bit
but IMO Brave New World is not so much an outstanding album... It's important 'cause it was Dickinson's return.

Metallica is better for me i like Thrash-metal more and Even Black Album is excellent. Maiden Are noteven on my top ten list.

I like some Maiden songs really good, but they do awful songs like "Can i Play with Madness" He feels like 14 years or something there.
The best album from Maiden is "The Number of the beast."
I don't think no other Maiden album can compare to that brilliant album. It is better than "Load" and "St.Anger toghether.
