Becoming the Archetype is a band from the United States that blends progressive metal with elements of death metal, hardcore, and thrash. I figured, since their new album "Dichotomy" is about to be released, it would be a good time to start a forum topic to discuss the band. I actually like their debut, Terminate Damnation, but everything after annoys the fuck out of me. Sure, parts of the debut could have been heavier, but it's surprisingly diverse and varied - it's almost like they used up all their ideas for the first album.

I heard the new album Dichotomy yesterday and it is glorious!

I think I've heard some of their stuff-- if one of their albums was named like the Science of Fire or something...?

What are some recommended songs I should look in to?

I would check out the title track, "Dichotomy", "Deep Heaven", and "Artificial Immortality" off their new album. These can be heard on their Myspace. Other good songs are "Fire Made Flesh", "The Balance of Eternity", and "Epoch of War". You will probably have to find these on Youtube or something like that.
