I am a huge Grindcore fan, yeah most people around here know this already; I opened the review with that phrase for one reason: now people won't say, "Hey this dude knows shit about Grindcore, no wonder he disliked the album and stuff". This is my first experience with Leng Tch'e, so I won't talk about how they evolved or how their music went from "X" to "Y"; I will write about this album, nothing more nothing less, so let's begin shall we?
I've heard many times "Wow this band will revolutionize the path of Grindcore music" and I've seen many people worshiping this band. I can't perceive why, actually when I hear this album I find nothing but boring stuff to begin with. The vocalist work is cheesy as shit (a lot of hardcore overtones and annoying high-pitched shrieks), the riffs are catchy that's for sure, but I can't respect a band that plays Power-Chords over and over again, changing nothing but the number of the frets. Certainly, Power-Chords can compose catchy stuff but some slight changes here and there would be nice too. The drummer is decent. I like the drum work a lot actually - the double-bass sounds incredible and it seems the only decent member is the Drummer. The Bass player?do they have a Bass player?
Believe me this band is nothing but some catchy riffs. Occasionally I noticed some rabid tendencies and even a really good intermezzo (Check out "Scene Scenery"), but besides that, the album is plain and monotonous. Ok I admit it, there are some good songs in "The Process Of Elimination" - I bought this album because I downloaded "Another Hit Single", "Scene Scenery" and "The Fist Of The Leng Tch'e". Those tracks are respectable, straight and not as plain as the other songs (except for "The Fist?" ).
If you love Grindcore bands with complex riffs, technical approaches, and experimental music (For example: Pig Destroyer, Nasum, Lykathea Aflame, Cephalic Carnage) skip Leng Tch'e, but if you are into pointless Grindcore with a lot of catchy riffs, you'll love this release for sure.
