For their third release, the Americans of Symphony X have produced something very special: an album that would establish the foundations of their sound. Classic symphonies and metal match perfectly in this brilliant album. First hard to get into due to the ever-progressive tricks-and-turns, The Divine Wings of Tragedy is getting better at each listen. With the excellent duo of Michael Romeo on guitars and Michael Pinnella on keyboards, Symphony X has become a revered act in the musical sphere. All the classical elements are there: wonderful solos, great vocals and on top of it, brilliant and complex songwriting and execution.

This is the best album I have ever heard and by far the best album from Symphony X. Every song is powerful and beautiful, brilliant musicianship and masterfully crafted songs. I never get tired of listening to this album. 10 out of 10

This is a very good album! "Of Sins And Shadows", "Out Of The Ashes", and "Candlelight Fantasia" (which is truly one of the most beautiful songs Ive ever heard ) are absolute classics, and most of the other songs are awesome as well. While I think they outdid this album twice with "The Odyssey" and "Paradise Lost", this is still a great album, which contains some of my all time fave songs by the band.

This is so good, it's beyond words. The accolade is one of the greatest pieces of metal music i've ever heard. The rest of the album is outstanding.

First truly FANTASTIC album from Symphony X. The Damnation Game was good, definitely something new and fresh, but production lacked a bit. Here's as it should be.
The Accolade and The Divine Wings Of Tragedy are one of my all-time favorite prog songs. Difficult to describe how much I love this recording

Fantastic album. Been a fan for a long time now but only owned their more recent albums, so I'm very glad to have finally gotten this one. It's leagues better than their new stuff and is a high point in progressive/neo-classical music.

"The Quaker"
"Pharaoh" is probably the weakest song on the record, if there is such. Great album.

Still the best they've ever done. Listening to "The Accolade" right now, what a masterpiece. Too bad they've become so bland and boring in the last 10 years.

I heard this one so many times but I still get blown away by the brilliant performance by all the band members, it's such a tight ship. The title track is monumental and one of the best songs written. I feel kind of dumb not giving it a 10 but there's a couple of songs that I usually skip and it lands on the strongest 9 there is.

Honestly? My problem here is the horrid album cover. Deciding what to rate.
