This album is killer! I love how the bass guitar is very audible and easily distinguishable, I don't understand why more bands don't do this, it takes the music to a whole new level.

I've been on a huge brutal / tech / death kick lately and am just returning to listening to these guys.
They're fantastic.
I hope their new album finally gets made?it was listed on metalstorm forever then got pulled because there were no updates.

speaking about new album, what is band status now?
Weaker album from all 3 IMO, but weaker is just a 0.001something

This album is a technical genius! The more I listen to it, the more brilliant it sounds. "Silence Calls The Storm" is one of the best songs I've heard in death metal, "Break the Silence", "To The Bitter End", "Fate's Descent", and "Dead Man's Diary" are all top class tracks too. Bass legend, Steve Di Giorgio was a great addition to this album, it seems he has a massive effect on whatever album he has featured on, the guy is a technical bass Wizard!
It's a shame this band only released two incredible albums then it all ended there, I think they could of gone on, and made even more albums of this quality.

This is in top 10 tech death albums of all time, hell, maybe even top 5. Fucking Masterpiece! First two songs are legendary

I'm partial to Day Into Night as I find it overall more consistent but "Silence Calls the Storm" is one of the best death metal openers ever written.

I was coming here to bump my rating to a 10, but it was already a 10.. Such a fucking masterpiece. Amongst all the great tech death albums out there, it's probably one of the most melodic and engaging there are. Flawless album from beginning to end, that is aging very well.

I'm not overly fond of tech death nowadays but this particular album continues to blow me away, the melodic structure still stands the test of time.
I've always considered the best songs in the genre to be between "Shores Of Ithaka" and "Silence Calls The Storm", both songs being by this great band, of course.

I think what caught me first in this album is really how melodic it is.. I didn't like tech death at all back then, but fell in love with this one. I then discovered Arsis and Allegaeon, and liked them for the melodic side as well. Then my world expanded when RateYourMusic extended their chart feature to let me list all albums marked as "Melodic Death" AND "Technical Death". Discovered stuff like Alustrium or Inferi which all made their way into my collection and led me to become a tech death fan.
(Sorry for the name dropping).

That's no problem at all, I'm familiar with Allegaeon but the other three bands you mentioned I'm not all that familiar with, so I'll make sure to check them out at some point, thanks

I can second all 3 of those recommendations (even if it took me a few minutes to remember that I do know Alustrium) - the most recent Alustrium and Inferi albums are very good (the latter got a deserved nomination in the 2021 melodeath category amidst stiff competition), and the Arsis debut album is solid, even if I've not especially gotten into them otherwise
This chat reminds me that I need to give Defiant Imagination another listen, particularly since I really liked the Pronostic album earlier this year; I remember enjoying it when I discovered it back in 2010-2011, but it might well be a decade since I last played it

The latest Pronostic release is indeed a great one, probably one of the best tech death releases this year in fact, and is actually very similar to Quo Vadis's Defiant Imagination, so, it's also a good one to recommend if you like this.
