After leaving Deep Purple in 1974, and forming Rainbow, Ritchie Blackmore was making his name a force to be reckoned with. One year later, Rainbow released their debut album, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. After scoring a minor hit with "Man on the Silver Mountain,", Ritchie and Ronnie decided it was time to step up their game. Unfortunately never liked this album. Vocals are good as always though, miles ahead of every other vocalist of the time.

Another great one with one of the best songs ever written (Stargazer). A LIght in the Black is almost as good. As for the rest they are not on the same level, Tarot Woman is a great opener though.

The two opening tracks are very strong, and the two at end are even stronger, but I'm not particularly fond of the middle two. 'Do You Close Your Eyes' especially I could really do without. This could have been a 10 if not for the weaker middle section, but it's still a solid 9.

Am I just mishearing it, or does Dio say "blind as a blat" in the chorus of A Light In The Black?
