I didn't enjoy this as much as Clandestine, the songwriting isn't as exciting.

Best death metal album ever.
Pretty solid release. I can't say about "best dm album ever" but many records afterwards has taken lot of influences from this.

Its definitely difficult to decide, but this has everything I need from this genre. The guitartone together with the vocals create an unforgettable experience.

Exactly.
This is the reason why this record is the most acclaimed death metal album of 1990(including sales and influences wise).

For me personally, I listened to a ton of death metal in the late '80s and early '90s, this is the best DM record ever made. I will rank my 5 favorites (if I can remember all of them )
1. Entombed - Left hand Path
2. Carcass - Symphonies Of Sickness
3. Pestilence - Consuming Impulse
4. Death - Spiritual Healing
5. Obituary - Cause Of Death
I loved Earache Records back in the day!

Was big into Earache as well. Could find a bunch of their releases as the US Air Force base exchange in Guam for like $10.95... meanwhile was paying $18.98 i town for Roadrunner. (And Bolt Thrower... had to have a friend bring Godflesh back from the US for me.)
Loved the opening track to this, but outside that preferred Clandestine as a whole. Not Top 5 DM material for me. One of those might make my "Top 10" for that era.

I actually just bought a bunch of stuff from Earache the other day, they have really good prices on shirts and physical copies. I bought a Woods of Ypres and Godflesh long sleeve for less than $40 shipped. Most other places I'd expect to pay $25-30 a LS and not to mention an insane shipping fee.
I like this album better than Clandestine, I absolutely love the guitar tone. This might sneak into my Top 5.

BC - Forgot about Bolt Thrower...probably best band name ever at the time...and Godflesh was a part of Earache, that's right!
BW - Guitar tone was the best, side by side with Tommy Victor. Until Markus Seigenhort and Neige came along...

Still is the shit when it comes to old-school DM.
Close to uprating this to a 9.
Today is another day where I struggle again which album I prefer, this one or Clandestine.

I've revisited this album. It was one of the first death metal albums I'd listened to. The opening title track is a phenomenal classic. The rest of the songs, like Dismember's Like An Ever Flowing Stream is solid old school death metal with fast paced, badass riffs and great menacing vocals.
I'm not sure whether I prefer Like An Ever Flowing Stream slightly more than Left Hand Path or not. The songs are slightly more diverse on Dismember's album. But this album is no less fun! What do you guys think?
My favorite riffs are on: "Left Hand Path", "Bitter Loss", "Revel in Flesh", "When Life Has Ceased", and "Supposed to Rot".

I honestly think this is one of those records who would not have anything close to this level of admiration if it wasn't for its sound, which I admit is very good, both chunky and with a good sense of atmosphere, however the music sounds like second-hand punk riffs put together until they resemble a metal song.

Not very familiar band but I have known this album to be very recognised in death metal. The sound reminds me a lot of early death metal era Amorphis.
This was pretty hard for me to get into but the first song has pretty nice long instrumental second half which makes the song different from the rest. I kinda like Carnal Leftovers too which I see now is a bonus song. Prematory Autopsy on the other hand was pretty hard for my ears. Maybe it's a demo or something?
Vocals are probably the main thing preventing me to like this more. But it's really the same for most death metal bands so I can't say anything is bad, just not for me.
What I can say is that I like the album cover art, feels somehow iconic.
