First death metal album released on a major label (only in USA.)Some original copies have the Parental Advisory label on the covers but were removed from later releases of the CD.
Released in 2006 as a picture-LP by Painkiller Records, limited to 1000 copies.
Produced by Morbid Angel and Flemming Rasmussen.
Engineered by Tom Morris and Flemming Rasmussen at Morrisound Studios, Tampa, Florida.
Mixed by Flemming Rasmussen at Sweet Silence Studios, Copenhagen, Denmark.

One of the most important and cherished albums in the band's roster. Covenant has an incredible Aura of supremacy and bereavement along its whole existence. Let me start by saying, Covenant is a work of art, a masterpiece in the Morbid Angel catalog that everyone must have, if not only for the musical greatness also for the conceptual valor this album on its own has. Definitely a great album, which only feels like a disappointment as it was unlucky to be the follow up to the absolute classic and one of the greatest death metal albums of all time, "Blessed Are The Sick"! xD

Posts: 905 Written by Angelic Storm on 24.09.2011 at 19:13 Indeed the Blessed is the best album they did, Altars was great but the leap In Maturity and Musicianship as well as a more "Intelligent" style of song writing did it for Blessed. Covenant suffers slightly compared to Blessed but its an excellent album in its own right.

Altars... was a fantastic debut, and at the time of it's release must have been a breath of fresh (or putrid, if you want to call it that!  ) air for the metal scene. "Covenant" is a really great album, and the fact it's actually weaker than it's predecessor, only highlights how amazing that album actually is. "Blessed Are The Sick" is one of those rare albums that transcends being just a "great album", there's a majesty about it, an almost ethereal presence within it's sound and songs that makes it very special. To me, it's not merely one of the all time classics of death metal, but of all metal and music in general. Truly a masterpiece in every sense of the word. xD

Other than Angel of Disease, which sounds totally out of place amongst the rest of the songs on here, this is a really great death metal album. No idea what the deal with that song is though. But even if it weren't on the album I still think Altars is probably better as far as Morbid Angel goes.

You both forced me to listen to Transformation after a long time. Man, the main riff on the chorus of "We Who Worship The Black" never gets old. What a morbid riff.

One funny album, great artwork, and if you judge song God of Emptiness it has death/doom touch , I like that song and video. Maybe only think what I like from this band actually, I can say its on my play list sometimes.
