In 1980, Judas Priest released the commercial success of British Steel, an album unlike anything they had done before. Would 1981's Point of Entry emulate this sound? No. However, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. The album is more like their previous works, and while not being an amazing album or groundbreaking by any means, fans of the older Judas Priest sound should appreciate it. Read more ›› |

This album imo has some of the most underrated tracks Priest ever recorded, such as Hot Rockin' and Desert Plains, which is probably the best motorcycle song ever recorded. Heading out to the Highway is also a really great driving song and I love the guitar solo in that song. Hot Rockin' was one of the first Priest songs I ever heard because of the video on VH1 Rocks. I remember seeing the guitar/microphone on fire thing and thinking "damn, this is the most awesome thing ever". The rest of the album though isn't that good

Take the first side, replace "Turning Circles" with "Solar Angels" and you got a good EP. That said, I like the general laid-back vibe of the album, even if some of the songs get awfully generic.

Desert Plains is top tier Priest, Heading Out the Highway isn't too shabby. The rest is pretty meh.

If we look at vinly side a is speed metal, side b speed rock n roll, I hear heavy rock n roll rythme there. better album as previous one, more hit songs, side a is super powerfull, basically side b to if you like slower versions of songs.

After "Rocka Rolla", this is the second weakest album from the Rob Halford albums. Maybe Redeemer Of Souls is worse. I gave it 7 just thanks to some amazing songs... "Desert Plains"

Sounds worse for every year that go by. The production and the going nowhere songwriting makes this album utterly useless. Some of the songs are just plain awful and the ones that do have potential (Heading out to the Highway, Turning Circles) falls flat in the end because of the wooden performance. Desert Plains is the exception. What a song! Makes me want to buy a Harley and ride of towards the sunset.

This album must have been a bit of a let down for JP fans back in the day, following their commercially successful British Steel, this sounded like they went back to their traditional hard rock roots, but it would be for their last time before they went full blown heavy metal with Screaming For Vengeance, of which was miles apart from this. "Desert Plains" is by far the best song on the album, "Heading out to the Highway", and "Solar Angels" weren't too bad either, but the rest on the other hand is average.
