dunkel is NOT a lager/pilsner dunkel is dunkel and is brewed differently.

weird, because when I was over at a couple of breweries in Munich the brewers said that it was a different brewing process.

Only one person here referred to it as "WAO", and that person just so happens to have the most atrocious understanding of the English language on this site (with the possible exception of Cynic Metalhead). Don't get upset with the rest of those who comment here based on one user's inability to type properly. Although I must admit it's rather annoying to see someone consistently make a typo when simply typing a three-letter acronym.

WOA looks good this year... If it doesn't sell out stupidly fast... I'm there.

Didn't really expect Deep Purple to play, but the rest (except for Anthrax too) is completely typical of Wacken.
Amorphis apparently will play a special acoustic show, which might be pretty nice, WOA seemed to me extremely unattractive lately considering the fiascos of the 2012 edition (the "special shows", the mud, the rain, etc.) but this is a very good start.

The rain was bound to come sooner or later. This year was the manifestation of everything that didn't happen the last years. Considering the years 2005 and 2007, I guess we were lucky the past few years. The more annoying thing is that they did absolutely nothing about it. Sure it was a lot of rain in a very short period of time, but the forecast was indicating that and I'm still convinced they could have prepared.
As far as 2013 goes, we bought 13 tickets for a start last night. Band-wise they took a step ahead in 2012 compared to the years before. Let's hope they don't take one back for 2013. Only the stage situation needs to be addressed. Moving the WET stage out of the infield has ruined five bands for me this year.

haha, I remember 2 years ago Bob from Overkill actually said "where's all the mud? what's with all the sun and heat? this doesn't feel like Wacken at all!!"

I think it's more about the amount they play live, rather than the quality of their sound.

They're exactly like bands such as Avenged Sevenfold in the USA: hugely popular, very radio-friendly, thus they play everywhere. That kind of exposure becomes annoying at some point.
Plus, from what I noticed, on the years they don't play Wacken, they do Summer Breeze instead, along with some other lesser-known festivals. I like StS and wouldn't say no to watching them play, but having them every other year is a bit overkill.

For that you will have to ask one of the locals.
