More Jeff Loomis, less Christian Muenzner. Christian is an amazing guitarist, but I wish he'd stay in Obscura and out of all of his other bands like Spawn Of Possession. It seems like his style is a little too same-y to be in more than one tech death band. Not that this wouldn't sound like Obscura anyway, considering the other members.

Muenzer did nothing on this album but one solo, "Alien Utopia".

Good to know, I wasn't really sure how much he actually contributed to the album, although the first half of it sounded like him to me. I prolly should research things a little bit haha.

Yeah, the solo nature of this album is no joke, the "real" guitarist all are there just to play solos, rhythm guitars are by Hannes himself.

Nice album. Sounds pretty much like Obscura sans the mellifluous approach, and more chunkiness.

This album is not a drum oriented just because it's a solo project from a drummer.
My final rating is "8.6".

Had a brief listen of this the other day. It sounded like very dry tech-death to me. I like the cover art though.

My friend showed me a song on bandcamp from this album and I was pretty impressed. I imagine I would love the whole thing.

I really quite enjoyed this, though I am very partial to most progressive and technical music.

This record is awesome. As a big Obscura fan it totally hit the spot, and I really can't think of too many other solo records by metal instrumentalists that I've enjoyed as much. \m/

Seeing how similar this is to Obscura, I am wondering why it was not recorded and released as Obscura.

This sounds like a collection of Obscura b-sides to me. There are even lyrics taken directly from Cosmogenesis ("And touched by an immense delight to be").
5 or 6 out of 10 from me after a couple of listens, will grade properly once I've listened properly.

I may be overrating it a bit, but as a tech death junkie and big Obscura fan it's hard not to. Enjoyable stuff.

Well-written, but I wouldn't be able to tell it apart from the deluge of tech death acts...

Lacks the comprehensiveness of Obscura but shares the same unmistakable vibe, which isn't surprising considering Grossmann was likely a significant contributor in regards to the songwriting process. (For all I know he was the primary composer, too lazy to Google it.)

According to his Obscura exit statement, he was the primary composer for Omnivium.

Which is their best.
And I have an interview from a magazine lying around here somewhere with Jeroen Paul Thesseling where he basically says the same thing. According to him Hannes was the one who turned all their riffs and ideas into actual songs on the Omnivium album.
