10th Anniversary Metal Storm Awards Open For Voting

It's that time of the year ? the annual Metal Storm Awards are upon us.

In order to lead-in to the 2014 award, we thought we'd first look back and present you the option to help determine the best of the first 10 years. We've taken the winners you the readers picked and decided to pit them each against one another to determine the genre winners for the past decade.

May we present The 10th Anniversary Metal Storm Awards.

Voting will end on January 28th.

Enjoy.

Team MS.

Wow...there are three bands in the Melodeath category despite existing for the all 10 years.....
Good thing Dark Tranquillity - Character is miles ahead of everything else in that category (including the other DT albums haha)
Edit: Well I managed to vote in all but two categories (because I hadn't heard everything in those two, so it wouldn't be fair to vote in them). Nice idea that I didn't see coming. I'm very interested to see what albums win

Agreed. The female butt was kinda juvenile, and probably off-putting to quite a few people

well, the kinda were - the way they were done on APRIL 1st - but the idea for the REAL 10 Year awards was behind it

We told everyone at the end of the Anthology Awards article that the real one was coming.

How do write in votes work?

They don't on this one because it's exclusively limited to previous winners in the annual MS awards

I think you can't since this isn't the 2014 awards but the 10 year awards which aims just to select the better among the ones which were nominated on the past 10 years...

Or ... Alternatively I may have just not seen the fill in field too, I dunno

I don't think people will be gettin' stressed over Thrash and Extreme Doom Metal category as its comparatively easy than others.

It'll be fun to see winners.

It's a good time for saying "Hail Ivan for design & programming this website..."

By the way be careful Metalheads, don't choose your fav. band for that category, make sure you heard about the others!
Maybe there is a debut album from a band (Nominated) that you don't know and that is excellent so be more precise!!

7 of the catagories I haven't heard any from. And one of the heavy nominees kinda sticks out from the others.
Better hope Isis don't win the post award. You know how easily confused some people on the net are.

Predictably, the melodeath category is the least interesting to vote in - 10 nominees but only 3 bands? Monotony be praised...

Do you mean Therion's Lemuria? Yeah I don't know how it got shoved into that category back in the day - probably because the symphonic category didn't exist then.

That particular album (In The Absence Of Truth) is one of Isis' weaker records - both Oceanic and Panopticon are better IMO - however I had to vote for Neurosis - Given To The Rising in the end, even though it may not win.

This Brings an overwhelming sense of nostalgia to me, if I'm not mistaken, I've been voting since 2007 or 2008, so, this kinda means something to me, damn, I feel that I can even predict most of the winners due to their story here in Metalstorm, most of them are a no-brainer even if I don't like them.

Now a short rant: what a terrible taste in Thrash metal hahaha, most of them are average albums, daaamn.

What's with the 'heavy/melodic' category? You have Accept, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest in the same category with Amorphis and Therion?? wtf?

There is not a single category in which I have (fully) listened to more than 40 % of the albums listed so I don't think I'm amble to give an informed vote anywhere. Hence I'm abstaining from voting.

But I did remember that I haven't listened to "Angel of Retribution" in a long time and I think I quite liked that one so I'm going to listen to it today (maybe).

At least now is less off-putting with the banners from other years (some of them are pretty cool actually).

There was no symphonic award in 2004. So Lemuria fell into the heavy category because it didn't fit in anything else.

God these choices are even more boring than I expected.

To be honest, I applaud the effort, but I don't think this is a good idea, the normal MS awards are, because there is always a fine choice there, but the winner is always determined by popularity, not merit, which is also fine, since at least less popular bands get exposure, but looking at the melodeath section makes me want to cry... At least more obscure genres (or despised, in the case of -core) do work better.

I swear the anthology awards joke about Korpiklaani became reality with Amon Amarth lol.

Why?

Just because it's Marcel curvy and sensuous ass(of course when he was toned-down) doesn't mean you have to avoid it. Give a guy a respect for opening up in front of obsolete camera.

Great idea, seeing those old awards banners and albums is pretty nostalgic. I remember when I joined here (October 2010) there was about 16k registered members now there is almost 55k, long live MS .
