I hate the album title but since I like all they did until now, I will surely check this album.

I like the dark, brooding tone which is really effective in this album, but musically, things are a little too inconsistent to match up that tone. I mean, the best songs for me are the opener closer of the album-every song in between is sort of put there to make up the time, or at least that's the impression I get sometimes. Nevertheless, it is relentless with its delivery and none of the musicianship here ever gets boring, maybe a little similar but that's inevitable.

Those songs are quite long for a death metal record - I'll definitely be giving this a spin then...

Didn't think they'd be able to come off the greatness of their previous EP, but by Jove, they did!

vocals reminds me of Karl Willetts!

That's one of the things I noticed right away.

I listened to it a couple of times. Very good album. I find it progressive at times (progressive for Death Metal, it doesn't sound like Prog).

Still have not heard this, but I'd like to see how a band previously as primitive as Cruciamentum has got progressive.

I think calling it progressive is a bit of a stretch from what I recall. Just longer songs each with slightly more diverse structuring than your average OSDM album.

Really solid death metal, albeit slightly repetitive. Full of chromatic and diminished tremolo-picking, just the way I like it. Nothing progressive about this whatsoever from what I can hear.

That's pretty much what I meant. Some parts are not so primitive and old-school.

Could use a bit more variety to be honest. But very solid nevertheless.

Really crunchy and awesome sounding riffs but personally I found some of the pacing could've been better and could've had more and well written faster parts.

In a way this is kinda sounds like Morbid Angel meets Bolt Thrower, but as a less groovy version of the two. It's pretty decent overall, it has a solid OSDM sound quality, and some occasional impressive synth work, but I can't say I'm blown away it tbh. "Rites to the Abduction of Essence" seems to be the stand-out track for me.
