"Alright partner, Keep on Rollin' Baby, you know what time it is".

This was a number one album in multiple countries... Yep, let that sink in; the Limp Bizkit train was rollin' all the way to the bank alright. Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water (or Starfish from here on out) is the peak of the band's career; they reached the top of the mountain and were soon tumbling down afterwards, but, let's go through what took them to the top of the mountain for their time on top.

The 1st album I ever bought. And still one of my favorites. (why can't I ever spell that word?)

The production is genuinely terrific on this record. I rather not comment on the songwriting the rest.

This is the soundtrack to me being 13. This, Eminem, Korn, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Disturbed and Rob Zombie were life. Though even at the time this was more of a guilty pleasure.

I used to think I was so fuckin' hard when listening to the Urban Assault remix as a preteen. I even learned the entire song just so I could rap along to it during karaoke nights with my dad's side of the family. Some of the verses are still stuck in my head

People underestimate how hard it is to write songs this catchy while creating a pretty original sound (hate it or love it).

For me this was a massive improvement on their previous record, but it's still far from being called a quality metal album by me, but in terms of nu metal, and some of the stuff released around that era, I wouldn't necessarily call it a bad record. There's obviously still a huge injection of hip hop material, such as the heavy turntable use, and rapping, which at times sounds like nonsense to me, but this was the time rap and hip hop was all the range.

There's alot of aggressiveness in the songwriting, and it's alot more metal sounding than their previous two records, and it has to be said that the overall songwriting isn't actuslly that bad. Some tracks I really did not like, but there were a few enjoyable tracks like "My Way", "Rollin", "Livin' It Up", which back then I could listen too.

However, trying to attribute the success of a work to nostalgia is not a powerful move.

Way better than the first album. It must be painfully difficult to write this many catchy songs while trying to sound this original. At least half of these songs I can clearly remember from my school days, and neither I nor my friends owned any of their albums nor even actively listened to their music.
