Nightwish - And The New Singer Is...
... Anette Olzon! In case this name doesn't tell you anything, here are a few facts about her:

Musical background:
Was raised in a musical family and been singing since childhood. After she turned 13, she started competing in several talent shows. She joined her first real band when she was 17, it was a cover band and all the other musicians were older. After playing cover songs, she joined a band called Alyson Avenue, first just as a studio singer, later as their leading lady. They've released 2 albums since 2000.
At the age of 21, she played the leading role in a rock opera/musical called "Gränsland" in Helsingborg. After that she got in to the Balettakademien in Gothenburg. In addition to the already mentioned, she's been in several other bands over the years, sung in choirs, done studio work for various projects and even occasionally been a wedding singer. Recently she sang a duet with Michael Bormann (ex-Jaded Heart-singer) on his album "Conspiracy".

Oh, I hope the "End of an Era" thing does not mean that Nightwish shall stop playing Symphonic Power Metal. Indeed, Anette sounds like a mezzosoprano Sharon den Adel, but you cannot really come to any conclusions by just listening to a ballad (in the end, Power Metal, Gothic Metal and Heavy Metal ballads sound quite similar to each other when symphonic elements are shown). Nevertheless, if Anette has a vocal register as broad as Tarja, I am sure that Tuomas will find the way to keep writing and recording the best music in the modern world, Nightwish music!

@Timor: how could you expect they would? they said already when they kicked Tarja that they were going to get a new female singer, Nightwish have always had, and will always have a female singer. Or else it's not Nightwish  @Taktsekte: they will never stop playing symphonic power metal. Tuomas is a movie score music freak, and he writes music as it should be for a movie, and then they have recorded together with a Symphony Orchestra from London. so Symphonic it will always be And you actually hear that in Eva, the symphonic parts, and also, actually, power metal like thingies ^^I think she dosn't only look like Tarja, in some parts of Eva I think of Tarja directly, but without the funny accent

Nice one, even her voice seems to be pretty good ... but do you think guys that Nightwish will be the same without Tarja? i don't think so ...
