Surprisingly solid album. They somehow managed to capture the essence of what makes David Lee Roth a great entertainer, but also add in some new tricks. The latter is mainly thanks to Steve Vai, who in my books is even more intriguing guitarist than EVH, I love his tone here. For me Ladies' Nite iI Buffalo is the high point of this album, Yankee Rose comes close second.

I agree, although I would not call this album solid, it's entertaining, in the right mood (which i need for DLR). He is an entertainer, more than anything indeed, but with him, it can get tedious after a while, with his silliness. He was lucky he's surrounded himself with great musicians.
