How many death metal bands does Denmark realistically need?

Denmark is a country mostly known for King Diamond, its unintelligible language, its polite war with Canada, Hans Christian Andersen, leading the Kalmar Union, conquering half of England in the 9th century, and so on. But compared to its neighbors, like Germany, Sweden, and Norway, it doesn't have as big of a sway on the metal world. Sure, I already mentioned Mercyful Fate, and names like Saturnus, Artillery, Volbeat, Myrkur, Pyramaze, and Royal Hunt are pretty commonplace. Decent. But on the death metal side, Mercenary and Illdisposed are far from gigantic. Well, Denmark is doing some catching up.

You may remember that Undergang album I reviewed? Well the vocalist for that band also does vocals for Phrenelith and Hyperdontia. You know who used to be Phrenelith's drummer? Sulphurous' drummer. He's also still playing drums in Hyperdontia. And I lied, Undergang's vocalist left Hyperdontia and was replaced by Sulphurous' vocalist. Who also plays guitars in Taphos. And though he's not a member, Hyperdontia's vocalist is playing bass on this record. Why do I mention all of this. Because all the markings of a good scene is the incestual sharing of members. The Icelandic black metal scene did it, the Dutch black metal scene does it. And now the Danes do it. So let's do it! Let's incestuously share members!

One last thing I should mention is that Sulphurous is only beat by Undergang is age. And that Phrenelith and Hyperdontia are all bound to release new albums this year. And, oh God, my queue is so fucking full and I probably won't have the time to review all of those. But I do advise you all to listen to those when they drop, and imagine that I also reviewed them. Hell, use The Black Mouth Of Sepulchre as a springboard to explore this incestuous scene, and in your own time find out how they're related to the Turkish death metal scene. Did I just spend the vast majority of the review not even touching the music itself? Yep, sounds like a Radu review. I wonder if I can get away with doing that.

Well, I'll just say that when this arrived in our promo pool, it was one of the only upcoming death metal albums I was excited for. I was right.
