Yes, Amenra and Der Weg Einer Freiheit both played slightly longer sets as some kind of compensation. Those who primarily came to see the French could ask for a refund of the ticket price. But it seems that not too many people used this option, because to my surprise the venue was nearly sold out anyway.

It's a bit odd to me that they only broke the news when the venue was already open, surely they knew much sooner than that that those two bands wouldn't make it...

To be fair, at least three of the bands had actually spread the bad news, about two hours before admission. I can't blame the artists for the fact that I just didn't feel the urge to look for possible reasons to ruin my own anticipation shortly before an event I'd been looking forward to for months.
But when Europe's biggest ticketing company (whose spam has been reaching me unerringly for two decades, so it's safe to assume they know my email address well) deems it unnecessary to send at least a brief notification when a headliner cancels a show, I find that pretty annoying.
