Atreyu is a band that gained certain popularity among Metalheads with their previous release "Suicide Notes And Butterfly Kisses", I haven't heard that record, but I'm sure it was way much better than this, because "The Curse" is everything but spectacular. Oh, and of course, in case you haven't read well the upper part, this is Metalcore, so old Metalheads, you can stop reading right now.

Well, define this? Hmm, think of a Metalcore/Mtv act, (can think any names right now, I'm not a big fan of the genre) then add some what could be described as Melodeath Metal, so you got in one side music reminiscent of Melodic Death Metal from Sweden with some clear singing parts with an alternative sound of course.

To be honest with you, I don't find completely disgusting the harsher parts, reminded me of newer In Flames, and there's a share of aggression there, but when the clear vocals make their entrance, the song is ruined for me, sadly, sounds too commercial for me. Songs are ok I think, some of them have some catchy hooks like the single "Right Side Of The Bed" or "You Eclipsed By Me" both my favorite songs in the album, although I'd rather listen other album.

Production is a plus here, the sound is crystal clear and every instrument sound really sharp and clear, cover art is also nice, the band logo is also awesome although they look like bunch of kids in punk uniforms.

Atreyu is a Metalcore band, they play a commercial version of Heavy Metal, and that is enough to repel a lot of Metalheads, but also that is a way to gain millions of younger fans. This is not my stuff, but the album is not crap, it depends on your tastes, many will find this music appealing, I'm just one person here.

This album is not that great, but wanna hear the biggest rip off ever. Play the song Right Side of the Bed, its probably on youtube. Then pull out your old In Flames and listen to The Hive of Whoracle...Then tell me what you hear!

A good review for not instantly completely rejecting the emo boys.

Seriously there's nothing appealing in this album. Even in the metalcore scene Atreyu is a shame and I'm not talking about the emo-kid look. Too much "screamo" part and the harsher parts are just something we've heard better a lot of times or simply rip-off as bluemobiusx noticed. Maybe I sound like a "metalcore hater" here but I'm not. Some are enjoyable. It's because of band like that if there's that much "metalcore hater" in the metal scene. I'm not seeing any potential here and believe me I tried.

Oh, believe me. I know where you're coming from. Although I don't like this kind of stuff, I can understand why some folk like this kind of music (BFMV, Killswitch Engage), but Atreyu has never impressed me in the slightest. Mediocre to the extreme.
