I had been observing the evolution of Macbeth ever since I bought their first full-length album. Last year I was very anxious while waiting the newest release of the group. The anticipations were relatively high because the promotional media of the band were speaking of "Superangelic Hate Bringers" as of their best albums ever. In addition, the first music video of Macbeth's career was shot for the song "Without You". So far, the style had been developing enormously since their early works, therefore, I was very interested to hear what they'd have to offer to the audiences now.

First of all, accusations of being a cliché-filled beauty vs beast group may now be forgotten. They quit this field as soon as they recruited Morena and Andreas as vocalists. Superangelic Hate Bringers has marked a completely new level. The style of the new release is more Gothic Rock than atmospheric or Gothic/Black Metal as it used to be described earlier. The opening song "Don't Pretend" has both Morena and Andreas greeting the listener with rough vocals and catchy guitar melodies. The album continues with songs which are all more or less fast and with aggressive undertone. One finds not a single slow ballad on this album. Macbeth did come with an intention to spread hate and aggression, in a positive way of course.

First of all I would point out the minuses of the album. My personal opinion is that this album doesn't qualify as their best one since I really expected more. The melodies are catchy and the development of ideas is good but in general the structure of the album leaves slightly weak impression because most of the songs become too monotone and will lack the necessary emotions. Use of electronic keyboard sounds also doesn't fit the whole atmosphere as well as it could and the second half of the album is not as strong as the beginning. I will not speak of negative sides any longer. The positive sides are, for sure, Andreas and Morena and Fabrizio, the captain to keep the ship on right course. The vocalists do their job very well, Andreas plays with his various singing styles from clean to extreme vocals. Morena's haunting sharp voice is still a quality Macbeth can be proud of.

Although Superangelic Hate Bringers isn't their best album, it does have it's good songs. Without You is a gloomy and catchy song and along with it's video makes a fine pearl of the work of all the active years of the group. "Don't Include Me In Your Dreams" has one of the best guitar intros and the drum intermezzo makes the song even more enjoyable. "Watch Us Die" is also one of the best songs of this album. "H.A.T.E." surprised me with its resemblance to Arch Enemy's style. Superangelic Hate Bringers has a very good concept of ideas. I hope that the band will use this and also their previous works as a basis to create better and better music in the future.
