A great discovery! When Matti Reinola (the bass player of Grayscale) contacted me, I wasn't waiting for such a great release. Honestly, I'm not a great fan of Finnish gothic metal but where the other bands fail to make good songs, Grayscale is managing to create hits such as the huge 'Squeeze' or the wonderful 'Shape In The Shadows'. For example, I don't like at all the band called To/Die/For but I really enjoy Grayscale! Maybe this is due to the heavy influences bring by the two guitars, added to the clear keyboards parts? So don't say, "hum well it's gothic metal so it must sound like..." No, no no. The songs are really well composed and some of them are angry for gothic!

"When The Ghosts Are Gone" is full of good songs and among them, my personal vote goes to 'Squeeze' with its huge angry riffs and quiet keyboards parts. The only bad thing on this release could be the vocals as the clear voice is very special, but could you tell me a band in this kind of gothic metal with a standard male voice?? So, I think Grayscale has made the good choice in including a second singer for clean parts (Lasse Harma).

Anyway, "When The Ghosts Are Gone" is now one of my favorite gothic album to date and I'm sure that those talented musicians will soon knock at the door of your musical home! Everybody repeats after me: "Grayscale, Grayscale!"
