As many of you might know by know I live in South America, here we don't have blizzards, snowfalls and things like that (not where I live anyway) we only have, sun, sun and more sun, so is kinda hard for me to understand the whole adoration of the forests of snow and all that Black Metal imagery, but hey, maybe I don't understand snow, but I been freaking cold a couple of times in trips to Glaciers and mountains that we have here in South America.
Anyway, who cares about my life of sun and beach? Well, nobody, but it was only a "intro" because I'm here to talk about IMPERIAL CRYSTALLINE ENTOMBMENT, or I.C.E., and let me tell you that since the Immortal days, I haven't seen a band so obsessed with ice and low temperatures! Just look at the song titles and the pseudonyms that the members got! (Bleak, Blisserred, IceSickKill, Mammoth)
This Debut Ep of I.C.E. offers us some raw fast-riffed Black metal a lá Immortal, the 3 tracks are very good, but sadly the 3 lack the "freezing" element that Immortal had, don't ask me how to achieve that, I.C.E. may play a very decent Black Metal, but still, they have a long road to travel to justify their band name. I'm not even chilly as I listen this Ep, even though they took all the precautions, like write and record this Ep in Akureyu, Iceland "during the winter of Ravaskeiths 8th eclipse" one question remains who or what is Raveskeith?
In a nutshell, in presentation and imagery I.C.E. are flawless, musically they play a very solid Black Metal, but the "freezing" element is lacking here, hope they can achieve this for future releases, good luck.
