Heavy Hardrock.

"I Used to Fuck People Like You in Prison" Records / Century Media.

"The Awesome Machine" (I'm calling them "TAM" in the rest of the review) is called a Hardrock band, inspired by the 1970's and 1980's and now taken the step out of the Stoner genre. Well, that's a pretty good explanation of this four-piece band from my country, Sweden.

You can hear that they know their "Black Sabbath" and their "Deep Purple" and "Led Zeppelin"; yes all the giant band that ruled the scene in those days inspires them.
But still, even if they saying that they leaved the Stoner, you can hear some tendency that they have been there.
Don't think I'm nuts now, 'cause I compare them with "Black Sabbath", because Christian Smedström know his Tony Iommi, that's for sure. The heaviness and darkness from the guitar that Mr. Iommi is master of, Christian use very well, and that gives "TAM" a little Doom feeling to.
But don't now think that this is a copy band, because they are not, yes the big ones inspire them but they still have their own sound.

"The Soul of a Thousand Years" is "TAM's" third release, but I haven't heard anything of the before. So I can't tell how they sounded in the Stoner time. (If someone of you can, please comment).

After a few spin, I can hear that it's a solid album, neither superb songs nor bad songs, all of them is keeps the same quality.
Even if that is quite boring after some spins to, I don't think this is that kind of album that grows every time, no this is an album you put in your cd player when you want Heavy Hardrock, and want to rock loose in a hour or so.

So if you want a solid Heavy Hardrock album, in the spirit of "Black Sabbath", "Deep Purple" and alike, try "TAM", I think, no? I know that they won't disappoint you, not at all.

Killing Songs: Hmm, hard one. It's a Solid album, so try them all.
